This was an entirely unexpected surprise. I simply walked in because it was withing close proximity of my accomodation but it ended up being one of the best gastronomical experience I have ever had. Not only was every dish I ordered an absolutely unique revelation of flavor but also, every cocktail was a truly beyond my wildest expectations. My order exhaustively included the Pomelo Prawn Pai tee (5* - perfect tartness from the pomelo, perfect balance of sour and fresh from the pickled veggies, incredibly flavorful smokiness to the prawn, delicately textured pastry, beautiful blend), the grilled fish tikka (4* - could have been a little more charred), the salmon salai crostini (5* - perfect flavor/texture balance), shroom bombs (5* - incredibly evident mushroom flavor and easy to swallow) and the raj lamb chops (5* - unbelievably incorporated flavor, perfect blend of spice and meat, stellar). All ratings are given on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being amazing, 1 being lackluster. My drinks were a pommelini (5* - amazing flavor of unaweetened pomelo), a yuzu highball (3* - could have used a touch of sweetness, subjective opinion), a marshmallo berry margarita (6* - what an unexpectedly perfect blend of toasted marshmallow and berries - almost an alcoholic compote, just wow) a tiramisu (4* - functionally sound and flavorfully indulgent) and a shot of smoked cointreau (4* - as expected with a hit of smoke that lingered after the gulp). I was also given a complimentary shot of a Malaysian local cocktail bearing vodka and a local mouth freshener that was interesting but not familiar enough to be rated here but, for someone who does not lile Vodka, it was a refreshing experience that all but hid the flavor thereof and was good either way; a shot of rice wine that was incredibly flavorful in terms of its rice profile - just wow; and a sour plum shot that aptly showcased the flavor of the sour plum as the hero and went down smooth and easy. My dessert was a Kaya Banana Tart. It was truly the icing on the decadent cake that was my meal overall. Reuben's is now one of my top 5 must try restaurants the world over. Amos is a visionary and I can't wait to see where he goes from here. My host was Munna and he was not just a welcome dose of comfort and capability but also, the bartender that wet my palate and kept it decidedly salivating round...

BUT THE GANJ FRIES THO 100/10!!! Wish I had three stomachs; I was so full by the end of my meal but the ganj fries kept finding it's way into my mouth even though I had mentally prepared to takeaway (portions ok, hearty too - which is why I couldn't finish)
Drinks, absolutely head over heels over the Lolly Mojito! as a lover of sour drinks this drink hit the spot!!! And the lolly is to die for; I hope they sell just the lollies coz I could totally eat three or five in a row 🤣 reminiscent of 90s school ais asam except not as sweet; perfect treat for my thirties age
Saw next table having the Extra Joss shot so I also decided to take the plunge; it's definitely a fun experience! Wish I could have more drinks; definitely do come in a group to have drinks here - their drinks selections (even mocktails) look really interesting and fun! Tuak (traditional East Malaysian spirit) shots were smooth as well
Been to the Ativo Place branch which is also fantastic; however this one is more walking-friendly from MRT (just 10mins walk from Bukit Bintang station); perfect for those who malas drive 😅
By the way, there's indoor seating upstairs as well! But since it was a nice cool breezy night I decided to sit downstairs...
Read moreFinally had the time to drop by Reuban's after following them on insta for the longest time, and i wasn't disappointed. Decided to drop by their new branch in Changkat, the place was simple yet cozy, the staff made you feel welcomed immediately, everyone was polite and friendly.
The food was delicious, we had their 'Shroom Bombs', and 'Calamari Mari', the taste left you wanting for more the base sauce for the calamari was creamy and nutty , and the mushroom had a burst of earthy umami flavor. This was just appetizers.
For main I had the 'Fish Amok', the fish was succulent and cooked just right paired with their Amok sauce it was truly a filling and tasty dish. To end the meal we had the Rocher eruption it was a perfect way to end the night with this guilty sweet treat.
Of course at Reubans we had to try the cocktails and it definitely didnt dissapoint. Shy Tan was indeed devilish with a nice perfume during each sip. The pommellini was strong yet very well balanced. The whiskey sour was i wonderful night cap. Was hoping to try the "bucket bintang" but i will reserve that for another day.
Will definitely be back to try the remainder of the menu. If ever you're looking for a wonderful place for a delicious dinner Reubans...
