3-in-1 concept restaurant
When The Rabbit Hole made its way into the social media where literally everyone posted themselves next to a swimming pool, the minister got intrigued and made an order to bring her here. As I don't want to sleep on the car porch or kneel on durian cap, I quickly said YES.
Located in Changkat Bukit Bintang (of all places), it was a bungalow-turned-restaurant/cafe/bar where it houses not 1, but 3 establishments under one roof - The Rabbit Hole, Brew & Bread and Tap Tap. Come at the right time and you'll be able to enjoy all 3 places at one time.. coffee and pastries from Brew & Bread, alcohol and juices from The Rabbit Hole plus craft beers from Tap Tap.. plus food.
◾The Duchess Big Breakfast (RM32.80) - a full-sized big breakfast served on a wooden platter - buttered sourdough toast, souffle omelette, beef bacon, chicken bratwurst, sauteed nushroom, avocado, hash brown and mesclun salad. Not much complaints except for the avocado which was past its prime.. ◾Tuna puff - from Brew & Bread, my kids proclaimed that this was the best tuna puff that they'd ever eaten in their lives. I'd tasted it and found it above average and generously filled with tuna. For RM10 per piece, it better be.. and I (or was it they?) tapao-ed another 3 pieces for the go. ◾pineapple pastry - her mouth was itchy and ordered this. Quite good though even though I'm not a fan of pineapple. ◾coffee - Since it's from Brew & Bread, I rest assured that the coffee would be good as I'd gone to their Kota Kemuning outlet and thoroughly enjoyed my experience there.
As nice as the concept is, I could not help but to think that the place needs some refurbishment especially on their roof - the table where I sat was dripping with water due to the rain, and the awning that covers the swimming pool was dirty and needs cleaning.
Instagram worthy? Yes... Food generally good too... And I'm sure when the sun starts to come down, it'll turn into a happening venue. For now I'm only here for breakfast. Will see if I can come for...
Read moreA very modern and interesting cafe/bar concept. The staff that attended to my table was really friendly and delivered very fast service. The food here was really impressive but do take note that the menu has been through a change due to changes in management recently (Wanted to try their Cheshire squid pasta but sadly it wasn’t on the menu anymore :( )
○Service -staff were very helpful and had a friendly smile throughout -staff kindly explained why some of the menu items shown on the menu were no longer available due to a recent change in management and kindly recommended other items on the menu -accepted both cash payments as well as card payment -very spacious area which allowed for more patrons to be seated -washroom is available and has a very unique design
○Aesthetics -had a very lively vibe due to the natural lighting and design on the cafe -has a pool included inside the cafe which is great for photos -music was comforting and played at a nice volume
○Food •Soft shell crab fettuccine -very unique pasta dish as it had more "asian flavours" as compared to other pastas -lemongrass paste was used as the base sauce which when paired with the pasta and soft shell crab created a well balanced pasta that was both creative and delicious. The sauce however does still have a little bit of “sandy” feeling as the lemongrass sauce was quite thick
•Matcha latte (hot) -really beautiful and unique matcha latte art -matcha was creamy and smooth while also having a nice frothy layer with the latte art
•Wild mushroom soup -really thick and chunky mushroom soup which is amazing for mushroom soup lovers -comes with 2 slices of sourdough bread which pairs perfectly with the soup
Overall...
Read moreAte here twice in a row recently. Had early dinner here on a weekday. It was fairly crowded but service was attentive and prompt. I got the fish and chips with a coconut smoothie. The fish and chips were average but I loved the 3 dips that came with it. The mayo dip was simply stunning in taste, loved the veg green dip and tomato pasta dip as well. The coconut smoothie was thick and had chunks of coconut in it. Yum.
Came here for lunch again the next day and got the Salmon genki bowl; coconut French toast and detox cold pressed juice. Service was prompt again. The juice was sweet despite being full of veggies which was nice.
The salmon bowl was ok- a tad dry despite the yuzu sauce it came with. The yuzu sauce was really delicious and I wish they gave more of it to mix into the rice.
The coconut French toast looked good but was too sweet and dry for me. The portion is huge and I got the leftovers to go as I couldn't finish it. Maybe good for 3 to 4 pax to share.
I loved the music playlist at this place- wish all places played the same playlist! Both times I was given a window seat and it was cooling, bright and nice for people watching :).
One thing to improve: they served me my salmon bowl almost at the same time as my dessert (coconut French toast). This resulted in me rushing to finish my main course but the coconut ice cream had melted by then. Would be good for staff to take note and ask if dessert is to be served together or later after the main course.
Do take note that smoking is allowed in here. Saw ppl lighting up but thankfully not near me.
Otherwise, a really nice place to dine at and I would totally...
