This is rather the most disappointing place I've ever visited in a long while. I came with no knowledge of how or what this place was (as I was invited to this place by other members and I see no reason to dig for more information then) and therefore came with absolutely no expectations, yet I was severely disappointed by many aspects of it.
We were served bread rolls with butter at the start. The rolls were quite stiff and dry; particular its crust. It is as if the rolls were prepared ahead of time but left in the open to dry out before being served. The butter, which, as far as we can tell was compound butter was rather flat in taste and flavour. Was that the intention?
Then, the next items to arrive were the octopus appetisers and complementary scallops. Both, in which took forever to arrive. I can't comment about the octopus as I had none but the scallops were cold by the time we got them. The texture was also a tiny bit on the chewier side but still fine. The flavours were also fine. Just fine.
The next item to arrive was.... I think a sherbet. I believe it was also complementary. We believe that the complementary items were to pacify us from getting upset over very delayed foods. And yes, food was slow again. The frozen treat was....fine... Nobody could really tell what flavour it was supposed to be. Some suspected mulberry. Some raspberry. Some said a mix of berries. It also had a very off-putting aftertaste. It was just a tiny scoop but I did not finish it.
Now, the mains. I got the duck while my partner had the Black Angus. The duck came with mashed potatoes and some root vegetables sticks. The mash was....fine. Could be a tiny bit more creamy but let's chalk that down to preference. Nonetheless, it was just fine. The vegetables sticks were not very impressive. They tasted very much just like the vegetables that they are without much of anything else. So, just...fine.... The duck, I really had a problem with. Part of the duck was very, very tough. I had difficulty cutting those parts where it resembled cutting into tendon parts, but it was just breast meat. The meat also had a weird off-putting taste and flavour which became more evidence the more I ate it. I did not finish the duck.
The black angus faired better as it was tender and tasted very much like beef. That said, it also had very little to offer otherwise. It was flat in taste, and any complementary flavours were not present.
I will give credit to where credit is due. The service provided by every single staff were great. From the jockey to the table crew, all were attentive, friendly, polite and were quick to react when they noticed that one of our members of dinner left something behind without realising it. They essentially contacted staff on the ground floor to inform us while someone from the restaurant came to us with the item. Parking tickets were also handled efficiently. The staff immediately asked for our jockey parking tickets when we told them where we were heading. Thus, eliminating the unnecessary wild goose chase that can sometime happen when information was not provided clearly.
Side note: All the things used for the food were reusable. Nothing were one-time use plastics or even serviettes.
Side note 2: This place isn't wheelchair friendly as far as I can tell. The restaurant portion would require guests to walk up a few flight of stairs. However, the bar and pool area are...
Read moreCielo Sky Dining & Lounge in Kuala Lumpur is a top-tier destination for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience, especially for romantic dinners and birthday surprises. Recently, my partner Yasmeen and I celebrated a special evening here, and it exceeded all our expectations.
Upon arrival, we were immediately taken aback by the breathtaking panoramic views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. The atmosphere at Cielo is nothing short of magical, with its elegant décor and ambient lighting creating the perfect romantic setting. The rooftop setting offers a sense of exclusivity and intimacy that is hard to find elsewhere.
The staff at Cielo are exceptional. From the moment we were greeted at the entrance to the final goodbye, the service was impeccable. They were attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that every aspect of our evening was perfect. Knowing it was a special occasion, they went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated.
The culinary experience at Cielo is truly a journey for the senses. We started with a selection of appetizers that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. The fresh oysters and the beautifully plated foie gras were particular highlights. For the main course, we indulged in the perfectly cooked wagyu beef and a delicate sea bass, both bursting with flavor and presented with artistic flair.
What made the evening even more memorable was the surprise birthday celebration the staff orchestrated for Yasmeen. A beautifully crafted birthday cake was brought to our table, accompanied by a personalized message and a round of applause from nearby diners. The genuine effort they put into making this moment special was deeply appreciated.
The wine list at Cielo is extensive, featuring a well-curated selection of both local and international wines. Our sommelier was knowledgeable and helped us select a bottle that perfectly complemented our meal, enhancing the overall dining experience.
As the evening progressed, we found ourselves lost in conversation, enjoying the soft background music and the twinkling city lights. The blend of excellent service, exquisite food, and a stunning setting created a night that we will cherish forever.
In summary, Cielo Sky Dining & Lounge in Kuala Lumpur is an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a special celebration like a birthday. The combination of luxurious ambiance, exceptional service, and outstanding cuisine makes it a standout choice. Our evening there was nothing short of spectacular, and we can't wait to return for another magical experience. If you're looking to impress and create lasting memories, Cielo is the place to be.

Read moreFood were alright though overpriced but well, alright for the view though don’t let me stress that the cost does not equal to the view as other places like Fuego has even better view at a better price. However, the point of this review is - we were a walk in customer and well, without any reservation and arriving at 6pm and seeing a lot of empty tables without reservation signage, we tried out luck to ask to switch to another table but was denied with reason that it is reserved. Well, fine. Not too long after, a couple arrived and assuming they were walk in too as they were seated next to us at a table without reserved signage however they were quickly switched to another table which we have requested area and the reserved signage were removed. Note - the couple is a white guy and black woman. OK. Well, of course we had to highlight this disappointment to the staff after we paid for the dinner and before leaving. The guy were sooooo defensive and his name is ANDREW. He said there were prime seats and blah blah blah don’t even bother to listen to our frustration before kept feeding us with his justification. Best part is, the other girl CARLA just kept laughing behind him not uttering a word. We take her action as judging us for voicing our feedback. Being in service line and forever trying to defend your actions instead of listening to feedbacks? GOOD LUCK TO YOU to surviving the KL dining scene. If they wouldve listened to our feedbacks instead of being all defensive, we would've accepted it as we are paying customers just giving feedbacks. If we wanted to be nasty, we would've gave this feedback when we witness this bias treatment, not just right before leaving. Go on and continue and acting like you're the only restaurant in KL city. ANYWAY, for 800RM a meal I can get a better meal and service else where, not from these entitled bunch of servers. The server that helped us to take a photo dont even bother smiling or anything, so called fine dining huh? standard is not even there. That’s what we paid for 6% for service fee?? Well, I would treat that as 48rm for supposedly free parking. Would...
