As you step into this place, you're immediately greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the bustling atmosphere of a traditional Malaysian kopitiam. The lively chatter of locals and the clinking of ceramic cups create a welcoming ambiance that beckons you to explore the culinary delights awaiting you.
Atmosphere at DeXingLung adds to the charm of the dining experience of a Kopitiam (traditional coffee shop). Tourists can enjoy freshly brewed Malaysian coffee or tea served in old-school ceramic cups, along with a variety of kaya toast (toasted bread with coconut jam) or half-boiled eggs for breakfast. It's a great way to start your day and immerse yourself in the local culture.
The staff is accommodating and willing to help with recommendations for first-time visitors. Like many popular eateries in Malacca, this place can get crowded during peak dining hours, especially on weekends and holidays. Tourists may want to plan their visit accordingly. Keep in mind that they may have limited seating, so be prepared to share tables during busy times, which is common practice in Malaysian kopitiams.
The "Mee Hun Kueh" is a popular dish that's worth trying. It is a traditional Malaysian noodle dish made with hand-torn pieces of dough, cooked in a flavorful broth with various toppings. The dough is typically kneaded into small irregular shapes, giving the dish its unique texture. This dish here is known for its homemade taste and comforting flavors. The broth is rich and aromatic, simmered with ingredients like pork bones, dried anchovies, and Chinese herbs, imparting a depth of flavor to the dish. The hand-torn noodles are soft and chewy, providing a satisfying texture that pairs well with the savory broth.
Overall, this place offers a delightful culinary experience for those seeking to explore the vibrant food scene of Malacca. With its authentic Malaysian cuisine, traditional kopitiam ambiance, friendly service, and affordable prices, it's a recommended destination for food lovers looking to taste the best of...
Read moreWe concluded our Cari-cari makan trip in Melaka with the most disappointing choice of the entire journey. We waited for nearly an hour for a bowl of very ordinary and overly salty Mee Hoon Kueh.
Upon our arrival at 德興隆 咖啡店 DeXingLung Kopitiam ( before 8.30am ), we noticed a line had already formed. Since it was our second breakfast and they only serving Mee Hoon Kueh, we assumed it’s can be fast, so we decided to join the line. However, we were mistaken. Despite having a designated queue area, no one was monitoring it, and they failed to prevent some SoH customers from ignoring the queue and walking in for an available table. This inconsistency left us wondering why they bothered to establish rules if they weren't enforced.
Regarding the cooking time, as we sat in front of the open kitchen, we witnessed how they mishandled orders, leading to mix-ups and miss out order and a rather lazy anak boss sitting there overseeing the operation. I believe this disorganized system contributed to the long waiting times.
As for the food itself, it was nothing to sound out and taste average. My bowl of soup was excessively salty. The texture of the Mee Hoon Kueh was also inconsistent. The first few bites were thick and chewy, while the bottom portions were thin and less satisfying. I suspect this inconsistency resulted from one person cook the mee hoon kuey, while the main cook took the cooked portions and reheat them in a separate bowl, adding a few freshly torn pieces. This approach led to some pieces being nicely cooked and others being overcooked. Lastly, they omitted the Mee Hoon Kueh's essential element – the chili. Instead, they provided an odd-tasting sweet chili, which didn't complement the dish. Priced at RM8, this meal isn't suitable for starving Angry Bird.
Personally, I wouldn't return as it felt like a waste of time, but taste preferences are highly subjective, so it might still be worth a...
Read moreI been customer at this place previously several time.Even chat with the lady owner as sometimes I was very early 6:45 am/ 7:00 am.
Today service are poorly as the communication with the shop server. The server took my order ( mee hoon kueh soup without chicken , add an egg). But the order did not come with an egg thus I request a bowl of egg as I will be eating the bowl that they had served. After that, the new order came in a bowl of egg with bayam on it, server ask to pay RM 3 (I had paid RM 8 previously). I was shocked as need to pay extra and said ah... as the order was mistakenly taken by you. And then just keep quite. The another water survey asked me if had I received my order as he know my order is wrong. I said yes but need to pay RM 3. If shop server told me earlier need add RM 3 or as he claimed my food is actually RM 9 (as added egg), I am okie actually.
What when wrong? It because the shop server is not have and told that the others with me still in the shop. Of course, hahaha I need to clear with my side of story with the customer beside me (and also at here). Hahaha
I put the money RM 5 at the bowl and left. The shop server get it and give me back to me.
Far enough, I never eat and he never take the money.
The food is good. The drink is nice to be eaten with kaya bread ( I did not order today).

I am not a person as one event will totally straight give that judgement (still I give 3 star for service hahaha). One bad experience does not count to my overall experiences.
