If you love hot peppery soup & pork, you've gotta come here & try their version. The hot black soup is just super addictive. Take note some may call this Bak Kut Teh but don't be fooled. I made that mistake & my 1st sip was terrible because I was expecting BKT soup instead of Pork Meat Soup. Once I've re-calibrated my knowledge, however, I can't stop slurping up the peppery soup !!! That brings us to another IMPORTANT thing about this place: The soup is unlimited !!! So for those who love slurping soup-spoon after soup-spoon of soups, THIS IS YOUR PARADISE IN MELAKA !!! (For those who like to order lots of soup top up then just leave IT wasted, please go somewhere else !!! ). I remember back when they didn't have such long queues during weekend, the boss would walk table to table & if he sees your bowl almost empty of soup, he'll offer to top up your soup! That's the kind of touch I love about these kind of place.

Anyway, they have choices of lean meat, SamChan (3 layers pork) & intestines too (if you like that kind of stuffs). For rice, they have Yam Rice or normal rice. Do come early if you prefer Yam Rice as they run out time to time & it takes time to make a new batch. I would ofter tapao too after makan :P

If you love slurping hot peppery pork soup like my wife & I, this is the place to be !!! To the tourists who can eat pork, you have to try this food at least once before...

This is a very popular restaurant located in the old part of Melaka.

This restaurant is operating in an old shop lot in the heart of old Melaka. The setup is simple.

The restaurant serves only a few dishes. Their Herbal Pork Soup is fantastic and highly recommended. Their Lean Pork and Pork Belly are tender and smooth. The Pork Trotter Soup is another recommendation. All their dishes are served perfectly without too heavy herbal tastes.

Simple drinks are available here.

Food portions are reasonable.

Prices are very reasonable. In fact the prices are slightly on the cheaper side.

Cleanliness is acceptable

Service is reasonable. Waiting time usually not long.

Public washroom is available.

Parkings are roadside parkings. Generally difficult to find parkings. With patience, should be able to get a parking lot. Despite the parking difficulties, many locals will still patronize this restaurant.

23-08-2024 ; Still very popular. Prices, quality and portions maintained. Lean Meat, Tofu and Pork Belly Soup is still great and...

One of the standout dishes was the yam rice, which was delicious. The rice was well-cooked and had a subtle, earthy flavor from the yam. However, the meat soup was just average and did not stand out in any particular way. It was not terrible, but it was not outstanding either.

Another issue I encountered during my visit was the long queue. I was advised to arrive early to avoid the rush, and when I arrived, there was already a line of people waiting. The wait time was relatively long, which could have been an issue for those in a hurry or with limited time.

In terms of my personal taste, the food did not offer anything particularly special or unique. While it was enjoyable, it did not leave a lasting impression on me. However, this may be a matter of personal preference, and other diners may have...

The yam rice served with mixture of pork offals and lean pork meat tasted somewhat like bakuteh, but with a little tinge of spice. Personally, I don't find it very tasty..I preferred the yam rice of Bukit Mertajam, which is tastier. But every person has different taste and you can give it a try. For me, I would not come back. The price is ok for the portion served. I thought the softness of lean pork meat is probably because it is marinated in flour. This is an old corner kopitiam styled shop with walkable distance from Jonker street. It is only opened for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Parking can be very difficult here. And it is most often full house, so you would need to wait to be seated.
