Exceeded expectations!
We approached with trepidation because of bad reviews. Our reservations were on a Monday, 6 pm & business was slower than a weekend night & no cruise ships were in town, so we had that working in our favor.
Music playing was obnoxiously loud, but thankfully, they moved us to a table near a broken speaker and turned it down a notch. It was still loud enough to attract passers-by on the marina walkway, but reduced enough so my wife & I didn't have to yell across the table to hear each other.
Drinks were brought out quickly, and there were NO $8 bottles of Fiji. The servers were attentive, friendly, and responsive.
We ordered an appetizer of melted cheese with sausage (like little smokies chopped in bite-sized pieces), served with chips, and it was EXCELLENT. The wife had a crisp & fresh ceasar salad, and I had shrimp bisque in a bread bowl - which needed a little salt & pepper to taste but was very good.
Main entrees of coconut shrimp (wife), which were big and crunchy & she rated as excellent, and she's quite picky as shrimp (& all seafood) from PNW where were from are top, top notch. I hesitantly (because bad reviews) ordered the ribeye but was MORE than glad I did. It's my favorite cut of steak, and I specifically asked for "medium rare - not medium," & it was cooked to perfection. It cut nicely and tasted superb 👌. Tender inside quick charred grill marks made the exterior a tiny bit chewy, but very, very good.
The dessert of a chocolate mouse cake was an unexpected delightful finish to the meal.
I am VERY pleased with the atmosphere, the quality and quantity of food. It was a bit pricey, but on vacation, it was worth it.
It's not a destination worthy trip to Jacks, but a nicely accompanied out stay in Cabo.
The Baja Lobster Co (I think owned by the same company) a few doors down was HORRIBLE. DON'T GO to the Baja Lobster company. Tasted bad, bland & shamefully overpriced.
As far as Jacks = YES! GO & Enjoy you'll be...
Read moreI ate here with a group of friends while in Cabo. The food was good, though I still left a little hungry and feel like I should have left full for as much as I paid for the dinner in Cabo. I was brought in by the smell of the steaks cooking on the outdoor grill that is right by the marina walkway. I had the 8oz flank steak and mashed potatoes, and a bottle of water and it cost around $37. That's expensive for anywhere prices but especially expensive for Mexico. They brought out some chips and a teeny, tiny little dipping cup of salsa (one teeny little cup for 4 people). The steak is served on a cast iron looking plate which it's cooked on which is kind of neat. I would probably not ever go back just because there are plenty of options for great food in the Marina and you can leave stuffed for about half of what I paid and left hungry here. The steak was good but I don't know about $37 good. The waiter also mixed up our checks and put someone else's margarita on my bill, and then my mashed potatoes on someone else's bill which is kind of annoying because then we had to pay each other and it makes it even more difficult to figure out a tip (which is already difficult because I'm trying to convert pesos to dollars...
Read moreAfter reading a lot of reviews, and staying at the attached resort, we thought we would give Jack's a shot. First off, the staff was not rude like a lot of posts said. The waiter we had was very good. Super friendly and helpful. I had a ribeye steak, and my wife had a chicken breast and baked potatoes. We also had a couple of appies. Not sure what the appies were, one was like fried cheese with sausage and tortillas. It was very good! I eat my steak rare, and they did not a bad job at this. It was a tad undercooked, but still good. Being from Alberta I have a very high standard for steak, and I was not Alberta quality, but still very good. Same with the chicken. Not the rare part, the cooked well and tastes good. Another comment was about the portion size. Neither one of us could finish our meal. They gave us lots of food. The only thing to keep in mind is that they do run on 'mexican time'. So don't be in a hurry, they are not. But, they also do not rush you. If you are in the neighbourhood, it's worth...
