Definitely a different experience. You have to walk up several flights of stairs to get to a small, but relatively comfortable dining room with 6 tables. The place looks like a VIP room in a high end strip club. The staff to customer ratio is probably three to one. The room was a little hot and needed some air conditioning at times. The food was above average and better than expected. The shrimp cocktail came with 4 large prawns that were a little smaller than most high end steakhouses. The cocktail sauce was a little bland and needed some more zest and horseradish. The shrimp was well cleaned. The bread was freshly baked and hot out of the over. The bread was okay. The accompanying butter was better. To my surprise, the filet mignon was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and a slight hint of garlic flavor. It pretty much melted in my mouth. I was very impressed with the steak which was equivalent to any high quality steakhouse. They served the steak in an edged pan, making it a little hard to cut. The loaded baked potato was exactly my what it should be. A large potato, baked to perfection, packed with tasty traditional ingredients. Our server was attentive and friendly. I have to ding a star because we waited 12 minutes for drinks even though the bar is 15 feet away, there were 2 other patrons in the place, and I ordered a vodka and water. The staff also made and served martinis to a couple that came in afterwards even though we were obviously there and ordered first. They also tried to pitch the neighboring strip club. I thought that was tasteless, especially for a high...
Read moreThis was our second visit to Steak Chops and Such. The first visit was just my husband and I and it was fantastic. Beautiful decor with a speak easy vibe and very good food. Excellent service. However… the next week we went again and brought two friends with us and also referred the couple sitting next to us to the restaurant. We brought 4 new customers! One in our group brought a bottle of wine and we all ordered cocktails. We asked what the corkage fee was and they said $150. One hundred and fifty US dollars. Are you joking? We were prepared to pay about $385 per couple to eat as we did last time. This was a ridiculous gouge. We have dined in amazing restaurants all over the world and this was just ridiculous. We actually paid the damn $150 but I won’t ever be back nor will I ever refer anyone again. Given the fact you have to walk through the same basic entrance as the strip club next door ( and the men were searched like strip club patrons) this was laughable. They lost us as customers and I won’t be referring...
Read moreI don't even know where to start. The service was top tier! We quickly got a table even without a reservation. Our waiter Diego was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us recommendations on the steaks. Kevin the bartender recommended a maracuya (passion fruit) martini and it was 💋🧑🍳 muahhh chefs kiss. I ordered the smaller portion filet mignon and as for sides I got brussels sprouts and loaded potato. The food OMG it was sooooo yummy, steak was super soft and had a lot of flavor.
Super sexy atmosphere!
At the end of dinner, our waiter and manager Juan surprised us with Jamaica blue coffee and coffee cake for appreciating our stay. Super sweet gesture. The food, the service, the ambiance was all worth it- you can definitely tell they work hard to keep their quality well met. Honestly it was everything for me and will definitely come back on...
