Smoking Yak is a great place to hangout. The ambiance is beautiful with s dim light setting and they have 🔥 camp at the entrance, good for chilly nights.

Have been to different restaurants in the past week in Thamel, Smoking Yak has different dishes to offer but very limited in vegetarian. We had Veg Nachos, which tasted good but the quantity for the pricing was very less, it was like a mini portion. (Nachos comes as overloaded usually)

We had Rum Punch cocktail and House red wine, both tasted good. For main course we had Veggie Brown Burger served with potato Fries (no salad even though it is mentioned in the menu, when asked the waiter he said its a printing mistake..what!)

The burger tasted extremely good and potato Fries served with it is quite filling. For dessert we had Brownie, one of the best I have had. Moist, chocolaty, chucks of walnut in between ..foodgasm!

Music is too random and annoying, hope they get this in place soon. It's a waste of a good place without proper music.

I visited Smoking Yak in Thamel after hearing great things—and it definitely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is warm and rustic, with a beautiful courtyard and fire pits that make it feel cozy and upscale at the same time. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, even making sure to accommodate dietary preferences with care.

As for the food—wow. I had the imported beef steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection, juicy and flavorful with just the right smoky finish. The sides were delicious too, especially the truffle mashed potatoes. Their cocktail menu is also worth trying—I recommend the smoked old fashioned!

Even though the name says “Yak,” don’t expect yak meat on the menu—but honestly, the quality of the steak, ribs, and burgers makes up for it. Perfect place to relax after a trek or unwind with friends in the city.
