I usually don't often post Google reviews, but I would like to do it for this restaurant. I had a craving for Indian food while I was on a 3-month short stay. Randomly, while walking at Dam Square, I stumbled upon Dilbar. They have an amazing staff, very welcoming, which made me go back to this restaurant five times. I am a vegetarian, and here are my favourites: Starters: - Masala Chai and Samosa - Masala Lemonade - Manchurian (but only 4 pieces) - Soya Tikka Masala (amazing sizzlers) Main Course: - The best one is Paneer Tikka Masala - Dal Makhani and Dal Tadka - Veg Biryani - Baigan Bharta PS: They serve a portion of rice with every dish, so make sure you do not order extra rice. I 100% recommend this restaurant. The manager of the restaurant is very humble, will address your queries, and will customize the dishes as per your preferences (spicy or no-spicy, less oil). When I return to Amsterdam, I will go back to Dilbar again. My top two best in Amsterdam: For South Indian: Saravana Bhavan For North Indian: Dilbar Overall, Dilbar offers an exceptional dining experience with authentic flavours, great ambiance, and outstanding customer service. A must-visit for anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine in Amsterdam! The stunning paintings adorning the walls add to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. They are truly beautiful and enhance the dining experience.

The worst Indian restaurant in Europe! Not child friendly! TLDR: go to Samrat, just 300 metres from this restaurant and you won’t regret your decision! Long story short: Extremely rude customer service! Feels that they don’t like when customers enter their restaurant. We (four of us) went in at around 8 in the evening for dinner with a 2 month old infant and requested space to keep the stroller. They wanted to stuff us into a corner where there’s barely any space where cartons are dumped ! We requested a table of 6 as we had an infant and we were to our face denied! Mind you that at 8 in the evening only 2 tables were occupied. The next thing is we take our our water bottle to prepare the milk for the baby and the first thing we’re told is that outside water is not allowed (in other words please buy our water for 6.5€/litres). When we informed of their rude behaviour towards us we were told that we could go to another restaurant if we don’t like their service. And that’s exactly what we did. We went to Samrat which is just 300 metres from this restaurant, and they are just amazing people welcoming you and making sure you are comfortable unlike this restaurant!

Worst ever Indian restaurant. We went to this place for dinner and ordered malai kofta, paneer tikka masala, onion salad, mango lassi and breads. They got us the food and waiter spilled curries while serving the food and he was constantly laughing (they were high on weed). Interestingly, they served onion salad when we almost finished our meal and upon asking why they were so late in serving salad, waiter said you still have 2 bites left and you can eat it with those 2 bites (such an unprofessional behaviour which I have never seen in an Indian restaurant). Rice were not freshly cooked, it tasted as if they just refried pre cooked rice (cooked 2days back or so). Besides all pathetic service and food, this place is one of the most expensive Indian restaurant. This place is extremely overpriced and definitely over rated. Staff is so unprofessional and not well trained to cater guests. I would not recommend this place at all and would say you can try some other Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. Please avoid this place if you can.

The restaurant when we entered seemed decent. But what happened next is terrible. They have few dishes in the appetizer as well as the main course. So for example you order PANEER TIKKA you have to specify that whether you want as a starter or a main course. They don't know that PANEER TIKKA is a starter and in main course it's called PANEER TIKKA MASALA OR PANEER TIKKA CURRY. So the adjacent table to us ordered a paneer tikka as simply assuming that it's a starter but when the food arrived it turned out to be paneer tikka curry. The guest told the waiter that she ordered paneer tikka and the rude guy is telling her that she should have specified if she wanted it as a starter. Grow up you are running the restaurant and if a guest is asking whose isn't aware of your stupid sane name 2 dishes, it's you who should ask if they want it as a starter or as a main course. That guy on top of that is talking rudely that its your mistake and i am not going to give you any food henceforth and no service. I was really shocked as have never ever seen such a rude behavior in a hospitality industry. Now after seeing this drama I ordered panner tikka as a main course and told him specifically. What we get is a chicken tikka curry. I took the bite and I was like this isn't panner. I immediately told my wife not to eat as she's a vegetarian. Upon informing this to the restaurant guy there was no sorry from him. Infact he is like this happens sometimes and it's ok.

This place is the worst ever experience in my lifetime of entire Europe travel. There should be an option of ZERO STAR it doesn't even deserve a...

I recently visited “dilbar” restaurant and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences ever. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed disinterested in serving us. We were given water without even being asked and then charged 6.95 euros for it later.

To make matters worse, when we received the bill, we noticed that items had been added that we had not even ordered. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, they seemed unapologetic and did not offer to correct the mistake.

The service itself was painfully slow, taking over 1.5 hours to complete our meal. To make matters worse, after an hour of waiting, we were informed that one of the items we had ordered was not available.

When the food finally did arrive, we were disappointed by the portion sizes. They were too small for the price we paid, and we left feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

To top off the poor experience, our waiter was incredibly rude and dismissive. We were shocked by their lack of professionalism and complete disregard for our experience.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. The poor service, added charges, small portion sizes, and rude staff make for an unpleasant dining experience. Save yourself the trouble and look for other dining options...
