Let's get one thing clear...I love Hell - the pizza, the commitment to quality, the emphasis on free-range, vegetarian and vegan food, everything.
However, I recently switched our store from Bishopdale to Hereford Street, as I got the impression that they were new and needed the business. But sadly, this is now my fourth lousy experience with them.
On one occasion my pizza arrived over an hour late, no call or any communication. When I called, I was informed they were running low on drivers that day. The number one rule in hospo is set to expectations with customers. They offered me a snack pizza to say sorry. When our pizza arrived it was lukewarm - as a vegetarian, I have to worry about this less, but I was disappointed.
Another time my friend and I ordered a pizza from them and were really disappointed with the quality, however, we were hungry then too...so we let it go.
When my friend and I went into the store the other day I felt uncomfortable as the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, I started to have concerns about hygiene and there wasn't the general good service as I have experienced in other Hell stores.
The last straw was yesterday. I had a pizza delivery which was the worst looking pizza I have ever had from Hell. We have ordered the same pizza from Hell all across the country, and the quality has always been consistent. I called them and their excuse was '- our order hasn't come in and we have hardly any blue cheese, also if you add extra ingredients we have to put less of others on'. They said they would send me a double pizza voucher but I asked them to send another pizza. The person on the phone said this would be approx 20-30 minutes. 1 HOUR LATER a pizza arrives. The driver then has the audacity to ask for the other pizza back?? Luckily I still had it as the original pizza as it was so average I didn't want to eat it.
Terrible experience, after terrible experience. Goodbye Hereford St, we are going back to ordering from Bishopdale and I will be suggesting that everyone else we...
Read moreWe, two German men in their thirties, had two large pizzas (12 inch, approximately 30 cm). We are both used to Italian style pizzas.
Good: Staff, price, speed, available options for toppings, size of portions.
Not good: The dough and the tomato sauce tasted pretty plain. Almost as if no spices were used. I had a custom pizza where I could choose up to eight toppings according to the menu. I only chose 3 and asked if I could have more of one of the three toppings (ham). Despite my wish, there was only little ham on my pizza.
In total many aspects were good at our visit and the negative parts could easily be changed...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Christchurch, Hell Pizza offers a unique take on fast food that’s well worth the price. Although a bit pricier than typical fast food options, the quality and generous portions make it a standout. My personal favorite is the Lust pizza with its delicious smoky BBQ swirl. Plus, the location is perfect for taking a short stroll to the riverbank to enjoy the view while savoring a hot meal. Whether you're dining solo, with friends, or family, there are plenty of options, including vegetarian and vegan choices. If you’re in the area - visiting, studying, or working - be sure to...
