I tried this place after reading the reviews and was like maybe they just had a bad experience. My Indian food experience is from Japan, sasebo, fuk and Tokyo and man they set the bar really really high. I was disappointed I'm the tandoori chicken as it did not come out red and rich in flavor like how I had before.
The butter naan and garlic naan were okay (average)
The comment about the cheese naan is true. I would not order it again. They stingy with the cheese.
Be sure to check your order and make sure they repeat how many as I don't recall ordering two items but I think there is confusion on the owners part about what was said. So we just decided to go with it instead of bringing it up.
Chicken spring rolls were good I enjoyed them. Had a nice spicy kick to it same with tandoori, if you don't like spicy I suggest you tell them hold off on the spice. It was okay for me because Im used to Thai and Mexican food spicy but my Filipino family didn't like it that much.
Fish sticks were okay. I'm not a big fan of fish but the fish lovers seemed to like it.
The butter chicken is a dish I love and I was so excited to have it again after 5 years of not having access to it. Sad to say I was disappointed with it.
Mutton curry, never had it but I will be sure to add this to my Indian food favorites. It was something new and tasted pretty good. I enjoyed it more then the butter chicken.
Owner and staff seemed like nice people. No issues with them. Maybe be a little more attentive.
In short 1: average food. 2:be sure to ask to tone down the spice. 3: be sure to double check order. 4: overpriced in my opinion.
Would I try...
Read moreI am an Englishman who has eaten several 100s of Indian dishes in his lifetime. As anyone who has visited England knows only too well... we English love our Indian cuisine and that Indian restaurants are on almost every street corner in the UK.
My experience with Bollywood Tadka in Panglao was exceptional. So much so, I ate there for two nights straight before having to leave Bohol.
Their prices may seen a little expensive at first when compared to other restaurants in the area but not really! All told, each meal with an iced tea drink came out to around PHP750. So, US$13/€13 and still much cheaper than you would pay for the same meal in Europe or the USA. The portion sizes are actually very fair given their prices. So, for me, the food was excellent value for money.
I had the Chicken Tikka Masala (both nights). It's my personal favorite curry. I found it to be rich, creamy and perfectly seasoned with the just the right amount of heat. Served with Basmati rice and beautifully charred butter Naan bread, it made for the perfect dinner. I also tried out their Chicken Shwarma which was soooo delicious!
I visit Panglao regularly but had never eaten at Bollywood Tadka before...but from this moment on and for sure, I'll definitely be making it my first choice for dinner when I return every quarter month!
I absolutely do recommend the quality of the food here, their quick service and the restaurant atmosphere.
My only regret was that I forgot to order Samosas for take out snacks to eat on the ferry...

Right off the top, I must express surprise that the restaurant is rated at only about 3.8. This restaurant is every bit as deserving of a rating north of 4.5, as the best surrounding restaurants have. Good service and good food.
We started our meal with a vegetarian Samosa each. That sauce is the perfect accompaniment.
We ordered the Jeera Rice, long-grain Basmati rice. The anise added a pleasing flavour.
We ordered the curried mutton (sheep). We settled on a medium level of spicy and that was perfect, spicy but not too burning. We off-set the fiery curry with Butter Chicken. The perfect complement! Soaked up much of the remaining sauces with fresh Naan. Each naan is huge!
While not listed as a desert, a Lasi drink is the perfect ending for the meal (Ours was Mango).
Cash Only
A common plea to Tawala area restaurants: Start to accept credit cards! As Philippines moves towards contactless credit card payments, at the very least these local restaurants catering almost exclusively to tourists who will pay 400 per entrée owe their patrons the convenience of credit card payments. Carrying wads of 1K PHP notes is really...
