I recently had the opportunity to dine at "Addiction, Modern Street Food" for lunch, and I must say, it was an experience that left much to be desired. We opted for the set lunch menu, which promised a modern twist on street food, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. To start, we ordered the tuna tatake and the beef tartare. The tuna tatake was fine, but it lacked the vibrant flavors and freshness that one would hope for. The beef tartare, on the other hand, was a disappointment. Having enjoyed many variations of this dish in the past, I found it to be underwhelming and not up to par with what I’ve come to expect. For our main courses, we chose the chicken breast and the sea bream fish filet, accompanied by a side of fries and grilled veggies. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, making it a struggle to enjoy. The sea bream was cooked well but ultimately felt quite plain, leaving us yearning for a more exciting flavor profile. The standout of the meal was, surprisingly, the side of grilled veggies, which were well-prepared and flavorful. The atmosphere of the restaurant seemed to be trying very hard to project a cool, modern vibe. The decor had its moments of creativity, but the overall effect felt forced. The music, a relentless techno/dance beat, was more distracting than enjoyable, and the waiter’s comical Chinese kimono added an element of pretentiousness that didn’t align with the dining experience we were hoping for. In the end, "Addiction" felt like a restaurant that was trying too hard to be trendy without delivering on the fundamentals of a good meal or a pleasant dining experience. We left feeling disappointed and wishing we had chosen a different place to eat. If you're looking for a memorable lunch, I would recommend exploring...
Read moreWe went there for lunch based on google reviews. We were the only people there. The music is techno so not my kind of thing. We had the set lunch menu. We planned to share. To be fair, I enjoyed the fries and the vegetables that came as sides. The one appetizer the Tuna Takki was good, the beef tartar was not. Portions were small compared to other places we have eaten in Lisbon for 10 days. The mains which were sea bream and chicken were disappointing- the sea bream was crispy on the outside but lacked flavour. The chicken was an unseasoned dry chicken breast. Both came with sauces (which they rely on for any flavour) but they both missed the mark. The owner/manager I assume that’s who he was came to ask about our meal and we politely told him it was hit and miss. You also get a coffee at the end of the meal but all they offered was expresso - when my friend request an Americano we were told no, later to be told yes but when it came to the table it wasn’t drinkable. We left without finishing our drinks. I hope the restaurant takes this review to improve upon the food. Also of note we saw the owner-manager yell at the server when he inquired about milk for our coffee. That I find unacceptable as one who knows the service industry well and considers myself an epicurean. I’m not sure why the other reviews are different than mine but I felt compelled to share...
Read moreA disappointment. We were two couples and ordered two skewered aged rump steak, two veal tartare and two doses of mushroom gyozas (6 in total) and some chips. The beef skewers were incredibly overpriced 19 euros each for 4 little pieces of meat that weren't that special, the mushroom gyozas were good but were more of an appetizer than a meal due to their size and dose and the two veal tartare were an utter joke, that should be in the starter category as well cause that will only feed someone on nutrient deficiency diet. Assuming this would have been high cuisine, then the chips shouldn't habe been supermarket frozen and shouldn't have arrived cold at the table. We had cocktails and those were good, we enjoyed them. Last but not least the waitress, she didn't speak fluent portuguese, I think it was spanish, but it was a shame as all of us struggled to understand her. She was pleasant for sure but communication should be prioritized over looks or anything else, cause we didn't have an easy time getting explanations from her on the dishes. What I assume is the owner asked us in the beginning of the meal before we got all the dishes if we were enjoying but didn't come back again, and we made sure to report to the waitress the doses were very poor and how we felt about the experience, to which she replied we could order more... Neither of us...
