Pizzeria Mezzogiorno — Restaurant in Lisbon

I've been staying in Portugal for the past month and have never encountered a tip being included in my bill without prior notice or consent. However, I recently experienced this at this restaurant, which seems quite predatory. This post is to caution everyone to review their bills carefully and request the removal of any mandatory tips, as you don’t have to pay. It's disappointing when businesses operate in such a manner.

Update Sept 6: After reading through the reviews, I've noticed that others have mentioned a "service fee" being charged. It seems crucial that this information be communicated clearly by the server, especially if tips are being added on top of the bill. Unfortunately, I was not informed of this, and as a result, I did not consent to the additional charges. I suggest holding employees to a higher standard to ensure transparency...

I took a Pizza and a Tiramisu. Good ingredients but not good cooking. Tastes were good but the consistency of both was bad, really bad. The tomato was liquid (it is not supposed to be so), the pasta of the pizza seemed to be a frozen one, too thin and compact to be a at the moment handmade one and furthermore they were too fast in preparing the pizzas. The outcome was anyway acceptable.

As far as concern the Tiramisu, it was not a Tiramisu in consistency, colors and taste, although the huge amount of cream put on top was good. But of course, as far it is sweet it is good.

Then I discovered that the chef is Brazilian, not Italian....

The pizzas are good here but the service has to be the worst in Lisbon. I’ve been a couple of times, because the food is good I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. However the last time we were waiting 15 mins for them to take our order and we had to ask them to come over twice. We ordered pizzas and drinks and the drinks took 20 mins to arrive and we had to ask for them twice, with no apology, the pizzas came soon after. We had to ask three times for blankets as it was a cold evening and waited 15 mins for the bill.
