We arrived after checking into our hotel famished and in need of a good meal, and that is precisely what we had. With a commanding view of the square, La Squadra doesn't seem like much from the outside.
But upon entering La Squadra, one is immediately struck by the whimsically tasteful decor. An enormous wood-fired oven dominates the far end of the restaurant. Tall glass cabinets filled with wine flank the dining area. A tree stands in a large ornamental pot. Smartly-dressed patrons sip house wine, couples on dates share sangria, a birthday party; a delightful energy pervaded the space.
The six of us, 4 adults and 2 children, entered and were thoughtfully accommodated near one of the enormous floor to ceiling windows. Our server considerately ran the childrens order first and then came back to take our drinks and mains order. The tricolore salad was beautifully dressed, the truffle ravioli generously appointed with a delicious sauce, and Siciliana pizza endowed with a crust both crisp and chewy.
It was getting very late and the kitchen had closed by the time we ordered the kids dessert, but again, they accommodated us and brought a beautifully plated tiramasu that everyone devoured before I got to taste it! I'm sure it was perfect, given the smiles.
It should also be noted that the bathroom is a trip downstairs and across from a gigantic wine cellar with interesting statues and large mirrors. Museum or restroom? You decide!
So in the end, we left with full, satisfied bellies and strong thoughts of returning again during our 5-say stay in the vibrant city of Lisbon. Thank for making our first...
Read moreWe have always loved this restaurant, especially the food—it’s an absolute 10/10! We been more then 30 times in this restaurant. However, our recent visit was completely ruined by the behavior of the restaurant manager (chef de sala), a lady with a very unprofessional attitude. We were dining with family and friends, including our 13-month-old baby girl. While passing by the kitchen, I briefly explained to the chefs how to prepare a dish for her. Suddenly, the manager interrupted, telling me that I couldn't speak directly to the chefs and had to go through the waiter. She misunderstood the situation, assuming I was trying to place an order, when in reality, I was just ensuring my baby’s food was prepared properly. Instead of handling it professionally, she made a scene, repeatedly discussing the situation with others and displaying an unwelcoming attitude throughout our meal. It was disappointing and completely unnecessary. Sadly, such poor service can ruin even the best restaurants. As much as we love the food, we no longer feel comfortable returning because of this experience. Management should seriously reconsider how they treat loyal customers.
Noted food here is always 10/10 and the other team are super except her Sorry chefs this is not for you. You guys have a super power...
Read moreCentrally located on the Santa Maria Maior. Ristorante La Squadra is part of “My Story Hotel Figueira”. Sophisticated and grand decor: Stainless steel lighting, open kitchen also with stainless steel appliances. Glass cabinets lined with an extensive wine collection, an entire wall of firewood for the restaurant’s signature wood-fired pizza ovens. All of the above juxtaposed with an exposed stone wall reminiscent of Lisbon’s historical past.
The service was attentive, the prices were a bit on the higher end. The food was great!
We ordered:
4*Grilled Vegetables: pretty good.
5*Bruschetta with Parma Ham, Pesto Burrata and Sicilian Cherry Tomatoes: very fresh, great!
3*Roast Chicken "Diavola" with Mixed Salad and Homemade French Fries: fries weren’t that good. Chicken was interesting with lots of bones. It was pretty flavorful.
5*Tuna Steak in Pistachio and Almond Crust over Eggplant Caponata and Nuts: tuna was extremely tender and delicious!
5* Octopus skewer: octopus was very tender and tasty, the best I’ve ever had.
It is a very good restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised. Highly...
