Read moreHad a New Years Dinner with fixed menu and wine pairing included planned here and I would like to warn everybody off of this restaurant. They charged an exorbitant amount of money (300+ for 3 people), this was borderline criminal. The decor was nice enough the location central but this isnt even a saving grace... Overall experience: the staff was trying to rush everyone through their meals probably to close up shortly after midnight. Funnily enough that it took 20+ minutes initially for us to get any drinks.. The food was ok, however at the price paid rather extremely mediocre.. Waiting staff barely knew what they were serving.. Entrée consisted of 4 tempura coated green beans.. pretty ok, interesting concept, honestly best dish in comparison to the rest of the meal. We had to keep reminding the waiting staff several times that we would like to have some wine though wine pairings were included with the meal... This was followed by a lukewarm leek and codfish soup, nice enough but it would have been best served hot so obviously poor timing from waiting/cooking staff… Next roasted fish, it was tender and cooked well enough, however the prawns served on the side were definitely not fresh.. Lamb came next with a side of roasted potatoes, all served ice-cold.. All the while we had to almost beg for a wine refill and a meat cutting knife.. Desert was a deflated and sad crême brulée, wine pairing was given so late that we drank red wine with the desert which honestly is just not ok. To be noted: though relatively friendly and funny, the maître d was more interested in joking around than anything else and basically slapped new year raisin baggies on the table… We wanted to stay for the countdown as initially planned but the experience was so disappointing that we chose to be nearly trampled to death on our way to Praça do Comércio than stay another minute. I have never before submitted such a long and negative review but I needed to get this off my chest: if you are going to extort that kind of money from guests even if only to reward the cooking and waiting staff for working during new years I would expect a better experience. Not a rush hour diner one that including an uninterested staff bonus… To everyone considering eating here in general and especially for New Year’s: Spare yourself the disappointment and above all your MONEY please. I don’t know how a normal dining experience here would go but based on this dinner, I don’t necessarily think they do any better on a regular day. One last thing: Dear Figus, maybe spare all (including your staff) from a New Years Dinner working night and stay closed like most other restaurants in the area or adjust your prices to your service and food quality… Alternatively adjust your service and food quality to the prices you ask for. I don’t say this lightly but it is shameful to ask for 100€ per person for this...
⁃ Good atmosphere. Calm music, can talk without raising the voice. ⁃ Location: central, close to the most popular pedestrian streets. ⁃ Drinks, they don’t skimp on ingredients. Good but perhaps a bit unbalanced in taste. ⁃ Appetizer: pica pau. Beef in soup with potatoes, carrots, and olives. The beef is prepared in a seafood soup, adding a bit of extra salt. However, the beef remains tender and delicious Main dish 1: fried steak with portugese sauce. dissappointing, a simple word that describes this dish perfectly. The dish was served as a kids dish. Chips, a «steak» and an egg on top of it. Who serves a steak with chips? This place apparently. The steak was ok, but every part of the meal was overly salted. The portugese sauce, is probably the most generic grocerystore sauce you can get with exstra salt. I did not finish the chips as it was just that.. chips. Main dish 2: grilled octopus with spinach and baked potatoes. much better experience as the octopus was perfectly cooked, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. Potatoes perfectly baked aswell. Spinach was neither sweet nor bitter and fitted the dish well. wish there was some sauce for this dish though. As we were afraid of more dissapointments we went on our way to find...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the restaurant, the reservation was not confirmed, despite previous action. They have arranged a table for the 8 and moved us 5 minutes later to a new table near the door entrance. The day was a bit windy, and when someone opened the door and entered the restaurant, an uncomfortable chilly breeze took over the table. The service was not perfect, but we noticed that the manager in charge did his utmost to keep us satisfied. Somehow he has covered the service shortage that we found in some of the employees. The food was good, but not great. Our iberian pork was definetely overcooked, and one of the dishes was incomplete (missing salad asked repeated times). We also found the atmosphere too much tourist driven, and so the prices were also much higher than expected. For example, a wine that you buy in the supermarket for 5 EUR, is sold for 5 times this amount. We know that tourists usually have some extra money to spend, and we really felt that the bill was far too expensive. We will hardly repeat the experience. The competition is really fierce in Lisbon and I would hardly recommend this restaurant as a...
