We recently visited this restaurant during a customer event, with a group of around 50 people. The venue itself was excellent—charming atmosphere, central downtown location, and a stylish interior that creates a great first impression. It’s clear that part of the cost goes toward the ambiance, and I understand and appreciate that.
The food was good, which we all enjoyed once it arrived. However, despite the strengths in location and cuisine, the overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by significant issues in service and event management.
Given that the restaurant had been informed about our group size at least a week in advance, I expected better preparation. There was only one main waiter handling the entire group, with some minimal support that didn’t seem fully engaged. As a result, getting our drinks was difficult and slow—orders were delayed, and the service team was visibly overwhelmed.
We met at 7:00 PM, but food orders weren’t taken until around 9:00–9:30 PM. Dessert didn’t arrive until close to 10:30 PM, which made the evening feel disorganized and drawn out. For a high-end restaurant, such a delay in service is unacceptable—especially for a planned event of this size.
In summary, while the location and food quality were solid, the lack of staffing and planning significantly impacted the experience. It’s disappointing when a venue that charges premium prices fails to match that with the expected level of professionalism and service. Hopefully, this feedback helps them better prepare for large group events...
Read moreOne of the newest places in Cluj and an unexpected pleasant surprise! You can see there's a lot of passion invested in it, from the design of the place - a beautifully renovated old building to the plating and pairing of flavours.
The menu offers a wide variety of options for food and drinks, and everything we tried was delicious and cooked to perfection. I especially loved the tomato tartar with feta cheese mousse appetizer - great on a hot day :) and the Mediterranean Zander fish file
As a "foodie" with dietary restrictions, I’m used to having limited choices at restaurants, but this restaurant nailed it: I found gluten-free options without sacrificing flavor 😍 I've also appreciated their openness for accommodating minor changes to the dishes and going the extra mile to ensure guests are happy.
I can’t say enough good things about the service we received from Arnold and his team; genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference.
There are two things that could be improved in my opinion: The list of allergens in the menu, or the complete ingredient list for each dish Some green plants on the terrace, to give the feeling of oasis when stepping away from the busy traffic of the city square.
Kudos to the...

Casa Numaa is a truly unique and extraordinary location in Cluj, offering a journey back in time with its beautifully restored building that captures the essence of Cluj from 100 years ago. The ambiance blends history with modern elegance, and the culinary experience is nothing short of spectacular. The international menu, with its modern twists and impeccable service, elevates this place to the standards of a city like Cluj.
What’s even more exciting is that only part of the building is currently open, with much more to be revealed in the near future. Casa Numaa seems to be designed not only as a fine dining spot but as an event center and hidden tourist attraction, still under renovation but full of potential. Interestingly, legend has it that the basement of this building was once the city's prison, built around 1241, and it’s said to be one of the most haunted places in Cluj-Napoca! The Emil Racoviță Speleology Museum, now closed, used to operate here, in a building that once functioned as a medieval dungeon.
Let’s hope the spirits of the past take good care of this amazing place as it...
