Saturday late afternoon was a fantastic time to visit. In between peak hours, this restaurant was laid back with just a few tables occupied. The service staff were welcoming and friendly.
Like at other branches, orders for food and drinks are self-serviced. Well thoughtout place with darkwood decor, bar and sufficient toilets.
The quality and taste of the Brisket, Burnt Ends, Coldslaw and Baked Beans here were delicious. The servings of BBQ meat was fragrant, warm and fresh. The slice of bisket with a thin layer of fats was tender and juicy. The complimentary side of pickled gurkin slices, red pickled onions and raw white onions were fresh and crunchy.
We also tried the October Fest special. This was a plate of pork knuckle cubes topped with crackling accompanied by a heap of warm sauerkraut and a large pretzel. The deal provided an optional choice of a läger or soda. This combo was equivalently pleasingly. The slightly salted, crunchy pork skin was no doubt the best part.
Upbeat country western music played in the background as we dinned. Eventhough we sat indoors, the spaciousness of the restaurant with long cowboy style picnic benches and bbq / smoke meat fragrance made us felt like we were having an outdoor bbq feast in a countryside barn.
There is also outdoor seating in a courtyard area at the back of restaurant. There was a local beer festival running as part of October Fest.
The dining experience here was a beautiful completion with a dessert of warmed pecan pie and vanilla ice cream. We were full of...
Read moreJust to establish context, I'm American, but I'm from the Midwest. I have strong opinions about food and barbecue, but a southerner will have stronger.
It's hard to find good barbecue in Stockholm, and I feel very lucky to have found this place. The portions are American sized, the flavors and cooking excellent, and perhaps the best part is that nothing tastes like it's been compromised for Swedish palates. The sauces are strong, though not spicy, and the burnt ends baked beans are boldly flavored and not too sweet.
They keep a good selection of beers on tap, and (I can't stress this enough) they keep their lines clean. I've never had a beer here that tasted like it came through an uncleaned line. The selection rotates regularly, so enjoy what's there while it lasts.
The staff are really nice and friendly. I don't know where they found so many chatty Swedes. I honestly feel a little like I'm back in the states when I'm eating here.
If you're vegetarian, I recommend going after the Mac and cheese. It's hard to find it done well in this town, but you can order it here with confidence. If you're vegan, there are options for you as well, but I haven't tried them yet.
If I had anything negative to say, it's that sometimes they have the patio door open on chilly days and some of the food can get cold fast, but that just makes me feel nostalgic for the barbecues we had too early in the spring because we didn't want to let the weather tell...
Read moreJust ordered the table breaker with my fiancée and to put it nicely, it is NOT worth it all. 300+kr per person and the food isn't that great.
First off, the sides are literally served like from a school cafeteria but tastes worse. For this price, this is not acceptable at all. More specially:
Mac n cheese: bland and barely warm Cole slaw: meh Potato salad: bland Onions/pickles: idk what they were trying to do tbh.. Corn bread: dry and bland (and they really emphasized that it was super fresh!)
For the meats, the only one that actually was flavorful was the bone-in one. All the other ones, although cooked decently, where either okay or bland in terms of actual taste and flavor. I'm tempted to even say that their Jalepeno sausage tasted store bought and I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
This is coming from an American who knows what REAL Brisket tastes like.
Additionally all of the BBQ sauces served on the table were horrible and I LOVE BBQ sauce!
Finally, we were sitting outside and it reeked of cigarettes...mmmh smaklig måltid, eller hur!?!?
In short: if you are used to bland food (like most Swedes are) then you will love this place. If you are used to food that actually tastes good, then this is not the place.
Very...
