Went here for dinner, reserving a single-person table online ~1 hour in advance after having some bad experiences with restaurants in the area being packed the previous day and was very pleasantly surprised. I normally don't write reviews here, but Martina's service & dedication absolutely deserves to be highlighted.

Bearing in mind that I had reserved, I still wasn't expecting to be preemtively greeted by name after walking in to the establishment, as I typically haven't seen that happen when arriving with a reservation in other places. It might not seem like that big of a gesture, but as an introvert in a foreign country where circumstances enforce a solo-dining experience, I can't understate how much of a difference such small gestures can make to feeling welcomed somewhere.

I ordered the Elk Burger and later Tiramisu, both of which arrived in good time, were well-presented and perfectly fine in taste. The only reason I give the food a 4/5 is that in the case of the Tiramisu specifically, the price-to-quantity ration seemed a bit on the steep side. Some of that may be down to the location, but at least using my also-not-cheap home town of Munich, Germany as a reference, I would have expected maybe 25% more for the price. No complaints on the portion size for the burger though.

The place has both a street-level and cellar section that I can't really comment on, but the street-level part was well-decorated with a calm & cozy atmosphere. Throughout the stay, Martina's dedication towards ensuring wishes were met and guests were satisfied was obvious. It was clear to see that other guests were having a good time as well. I can't comment so much on the rest of the staff, as I saw a lot less of them in the street-level section.

So overall the place delivered good food and exceptional vibes all around, definitely...

I came to this restaurant specifically to try Swedish meatballs. And I absolutely loved what I got! The dish - a few meatballs covered in mushroom sauce, served with mashed potatoes, a pickle, and cranberries - was not just super delicious, I also loved the aesthetic part of it. The way the restaurant presents this dish is absolutely beautiful. You see the dish - you want to eat it right away! It looks tasty, and it tastes tasty! The only negative aspect of this experience is the meal’s price, which is about $30. I have eaten Swedish meatballs in many restaurants around Stockholm, and this meal usually costs around $20 everywhere. In this Gamla Stan Hof restaurant, the price is definitely the highest I’ve ever seen - not just in Stockholm, but in all of Sweden. But again, you pay a high amount of money for high quality, plus a very big portion that is very filling for one person, and you wouldn’t need to eat anything extra. Also, from the downsides of this restaurant, I can mention the poor tea selection. Basically, they had just one classic English Breakfast black tea when I had my dinner. Boring! The restaurant in general is very nice-looking. I liked its vibe a lot. The place was spotlessly clean. The waiter who was serving that night was extremely sweet to me; I loved his positive, friendly attitude. Plus, I got to the place very late, 15 minutes before they closed. He didn’t push me away, and he let me order and eat my dinner with no rush. This restaurant accepts credit cards, including Apple Pay. I absolutely recommend visiting this place if you’re looking to eat...

The old town in Stockholm is a beautiful place lined with old buildings and cobbled streets. Me, my daughter and husband were looking for a place to eat a couple of nights ago and felt that there were too many Italian restaurants that saturated the more traditional Swiss eateries. My daughter spotted this gem of a restaurant off the main streets, and it seemed to serve a small but different menu to all others. Once inside, we were warmly welcomed by Andreas who swiftly gave us generous samples of ales and wines to try before we chose. We skipped a starter then chose between us, elk meatballs, prawns with a spicy garlic sauce and a juicy plump steak. Service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious and quickly devoured.

Given it's in a premium location in the old town, the price was more than reasonable and cheaper than many other places. The restaurant is situated with the main bar area of around 6 or 7 tables, and a basement level with more tables, but I didn't take a look down there. The atmosphere was friendly and natural, with local chatter from neighbouring tables rather than relying on background music. It's a small and cosy place that I would recommend anyone to step off the main streets to visit.

Overall, a lovely place to end your day to relax for the evening. Thank you to Andreas for making us feel welcome and...

There’s a small dining area at street level but you’d be excused for missing the much large area underground, accessed via the steep spiral concrete staircase. While many might find this intimidating a friendly member of staff greeted immediately on arrival and seated us at a large table at the rear of the restaurant. Being at the back was perhaps the reason service was awfully slow at times but other than that it was a decent evening meal. The menu isn’t the most varied but there’s some nice local dishes adding to the authentic feel. Service of the food once it’d been ordered wasn’t too bad although the portion sizes meant you should really consider the full three courses. Quality of the food and cooking certainly can’t be complained about though, with the meat being done perfectly and the sauces just right in terms of quantity. Deserts were equally as good and it was nice to see a couple of desert wines available. The whole setting was rather pleasant, and the large table welcome with everywhere clean, and if it wasn’t for the painfully slow service could have been one of the best meals in the city.

We stopped here for dinner on our last night of a trip to Stockholm. Martina met us outside the front door and answered our questions about the menu. She was very helpful and friendly. We ordered the Swedish Lager Norrlands Guld, the Reindeer Filet with Au Gratin potatoes as well as the Elk Swedish Meatballs plate that included smashed potatoes but I'd say they had the taste and texture of twice baked potatoes delicious. The Reindeer filet was really nice and the Elk Swedish Meatballs were tasty with a very nice rich gravy. We finished everything which is unusual for us. I'd say it was worth the visit and would recommend to anyone willing to try a few unique dishes. USA traveler from Florida.
