I've tried the katsu for lunch and it was excellent. Now I decided to try the sushi, sashimi (small size) and soft shell crab maki. The maki was very good and fills you up. The sushi and sashimi was not up to a standard that differentiate Tokyo Diner from pretty much mediocre sushi places in Stockholm. Personally, I prefer clean and good quality of fish without any toppings at all on top of a nigiri or sashimi. I just wanna enjoy the taste of the fish and a good mixture of rice and fish that I dip into the soy sauce with some extra wasabi. The way the sashimi and sushi is served here is bad in my mind The rice is overcooked and cold. The balance of vinegar and rice is way off. It seems that they are trying to overwhelm and impress the quests with quantity rather than quality. It's too bad since the kitchen staff seems to be have proper training to serve Japanese cuisine. I'd rather go for makis and other hot dishes rather than nigiri sushis and sashimi. I'd say 3 stars for sushi and sashimi and 4 stars hot dishes. Take away is extra price worthy for 99 sek. But I don't think it's too expensive to pay around 180 sek for a hot a meal...
Read moreWeird female staff that misunderstands situations due to her poor Swedish and then directly goes on to being really rude and defensive and taking things personally, instead of talking like normal and trying to understand the situation, when it's not even a situation that warrants being angry at all. I work as a waitress too and know it can be stressful at times but her behavior was really messed up. On top of it the sushi was very mediocre and the seats small and uncomfortable (with people visiting the food hall passing by or standing right next to you with all their stuff while you try to eat). Needless to say, we will never go back to support this place and related restaurants and will never recommend this place to anyone - there are so many other decent options for sushi and ramen in the inner city of Stockholm that are more authentic or...
Read moreUdon Noodles were pretty good. It was a Westernized version with lots of meat and veggies but very little noodles. I wish there were more noodles. The broth was Ok. The fried duck was nice although it's not a traditional thing to have with udon. It's thoughtful that fried duck is served separately so that it won't get soggy in the noodle bowl.
They didn't have a "correct" spoon for a noodle soup. I got a long flat spoon which was really hard to eat with (Japanese people use chopsticks and a spoon when we eat noodle soups). It's strange that they have otherwise nice porcelain and call themselves Tokyo Diner but forgot this important detail.
Overall it was good but a bit pricy considering the quality and the portion were...
