First time dining in at this Basel branch. Ordered a latte macchiato and 2 glaced donuts. Sounds simple, right? Instead, I had a waiting time of 20mins so I had to stand up and take my order by the counter(note: it was a dine in with a table locator for serving and the person after me even got up to take her order as well). It was strange considering there were maybe 3 or 4 people in the kitchen. One of the staff finally came up and I told him calmly that I haven't had my order yet. Right away, it annoyed him and gave me the attitude. Even the other people waiting for their orders noticed it and we all exchanged looks. So i waited patiently for him to give me my tray and went back to my table. Then I noticed that he only gave me a cup of hot milk. So I went back again to ask him about it and again, gave me an attitude. Finally, he got that right but alas.....I checked the 2 donuts I ordered and they were very cold. Like literally just got out of the fridge cold. I got tired of going back and forth for a simple order because there's just no point. I understand it's in the morning and probably the staff is not in the mood to work on a Sunday or whatever reason but it's customer service they're working at...

We believe in masks & had no problem with her saying that. But then, after we were served, she came out from behind the counter to talk with her friend who was having coffee. She pulled her mask down & spoke for over five minutes from the other side of the little half wall, leaning over it, & constantly putting her gloved hands all over her face, rubbing her nose, etc. Various familiar people entered to use the toilets & left again without masks & she said only friendly hellos. But then, she eventually started cleaning up, using the broom, throwing rubbish away, etc, in the same gloves that she eventually served other customers with. Gross. Gross &...
Read moreHere is why we like this spot: the McCafé downstairs is open for breakfast and compared to the usual Swiss price level, you get here a really nice value-for-money breakfast deal with proper (!) coffee. It costs CHF 6.50 (hot drink, 2 pieces of bread / croissant and 2 of the following spreads: butter / honey / jam / Nutella). Due to its central location it is a good starting point for the day and you see many returning local guests here. The personnel was always very kind and motivated, working quickly and efficiently.
There is a traditional McDonald's restaurant upstairs, if you are looking for a bigger meal during the day, but it's just...
