When you eat out to Zermatt you have to understand that its going to be expensive and I can accept that if the food and service are OK – but unfortunately at Stadel they were both poor.
The waitress was not particularly friendly and they got one of the meals wrong and by the time they brought the correct one out, the other diners had finished eating.
We asked for a portion of the Raclette to come with the main meals and they brought it out straight away. Then when we actually wanted it, we had to flag down the waitress and ask again.
The Rosti was really salty and we asked for some tap water but they told us they would have to charge us 6 CHF for a bottle .... of tap water. We also ordered some sparkling water which was also 6 CHF for ½ L but came in a plain glass bottle with a clip top and I suspect was just tap water Carbonated in a SodaStream
The veal sausage was underwhelming and bland and came with a small portion of chips which was really disappointing for 28 CHF
Even as a side portion, the Raclette was pointless - either make it worthwhile or take it off the menu
Noone came to check on us at any point, ask if our meals were ok or if we wanted more drinks or desert. We had to get up and go and look for a waitress at the end to pay as no one ever came back to our table after our mains.
The only good things about the experience (and the reason for not 1 star) was they asked if we wanted our coats hanging up when we arrived and when the bill came, they put some small chocolates on the plate. Apart from that it was all disappointing.
We enjoyed Whymper Stube, Rosstall, Pöstli Stübli and Grampis – if your in Zermatt, Id give Stadel a miss and...
Read moreWent to this restaurant for dinner at 5:30, went inside and kindly asked for a menu. I was then rudely told they start service at 6 so I went back out until I had the urge to go to the restroom leaving my little brother (10 years old) alone at the table for a couple minutes while my parents were a few feet away. I came back out to a “local” lady yelling at him in another language about him moving some things around on the table. She then proceeded to yell at my mother because we didn’t tell him anything. My 10 year old little brother was on the brink of tears not knowing what he did wrong because all he was doing was moving things around on OUR table. The waiter then ran out screamed ”I’m taking the beer” and proceeded to aggressively take the beer from my mothers hand as she was going to take a sip causing it to spill all over her. The waiter then went inside and kicked us out because the “local” lady told her to. The “local” lady along with the rest of her table then started yelling at us to leave as well and even threatening to call the police. When I asked who she was she claimed to be the owner and that we were just tourists who don’t know anything. What we wanted to be a nice evening out in zermatt turned out to be a traumatizing experience for my 10 year old little brother who left in tears. DO NOT COME...
Read moreSome weeks ago I went to Zermat for the first time with my wife and a couple of friends. We have chosen the restaurant by the menu’s diversity and we don’t regret about that, the food was really great. Everything was just ruined by the waiter. A guy with beard and glasses. First because of the way he treated an asiatic girl on our side. She just asked for something and he said that there were other guest in there and she should wait, but he said it in a really impolite way. But the wort happened with us. After eating I stated to looking at him in order to ask for the bill. After circa 5 minutes without having a feedback, I asked him when he was crossing my back: “could you bring the bill, please?” The response we got was: “ I just have two hands, wait!”. After listening the way he treated the asian girl, we didn’t get surprised about his impolite way of being. After that I just told him that I didn’t need his hands in my request, just his ears and he finished saying: “I must be respected “, and I replied say “me too, because I just asked for the bill !“. At the end I just would like to say that we had at Stadel the worst moments of our trip in Zermat and the waiter is far alway of being a prepared professional to deal...
