First and foremost if someone in your party is not hungry, do not eat here. They do not warn you up front and let you order drinks. Only once you order food do they inform you of this fact that a drink and MAIN dish is required. This is very misleading and frankly tacky. We had a group of four and they forced us to buy a salad for 20 that was not wanted just so everyone else could eat. Worse they let a German speaking table next to us skirt the rules and order less. Terrible look. Past that it is nothing special, and things as simple as butter for bread is not available. We regretted eating here and the money wasted on what feels like a scammy place in a tourist town. Avoid here at all costs.
Edit: Since they choose to respond, let me say the only thing in the response relevant is that you print this warning on your menus. But as clear from these reviews folks are not seeing that warning. Folks look for food not warnings about stupid rules we need to follow to be allowed to eat. When we ordered drinks no one had even opened a menu. It needs to be made clear when seating people this is the rule otherwise it is a scam. Period. The rest of your feedback is gaslighting poorly running a business. No other business we were at had these inane rules. We sat at a table for four, so we were not wasting seating for 6 or 8, we simply had one person not hungry which is very normal for groups. You do not offer $5 entrees and it was made clear the cheapest thing we could order to fit your terrible rules was a mediocre $20 plate of lettuce. We never threatened the staff and I said nothing of them in my review, but since you brought it up, our waitress was deeply ashamed of your rules. She was apologizing to us that there is nothing she can do to which we acknowledged it was not her fault and we understood that. It's you the owners responding to this that clearly do not get it and your staff are paying the cost for your poor management. My review stands and your response is indicative of why your establishment is so poorly reviewed. We only wish we had read reviews before...
Read moreBasically you have to order maincourse(each person) if you want to be served. Ridiculous idea. My boyfriend wanted eat supper, I just wanted eat something small and quickly but waiter said they are not allowed served us if I am not going to order second maincourse. I wanted order latte plus dessert which is similar price so the idea is completly without any logic!
So ok, I ordered pizza but I asked about kind of flour the short waiter and he didn't understand at all. That was about allergens which is so important for me. He should say "I don't understand you" but instead of that he started be rude to me and joking about me. He said that is simply pizza - oregano, tomato and cheese so how can I ask about kind of pizza, I ssid 10 times kind of flour! Not kind of pizza, but nothing, then I said that's ok you don't understand me, please I would like to latte, he looked at me and said simply coffe? I said latte! He said we have latte macciatto and looked at me like I am coming from the moon or other planet and joked to me is milk, water and coffe inside. I said I know what is it latte, you don't need to explain. I am not recommending at all! Sorry! The other waiter Ronny was ok! At Zermatt is so many other restaurant better with...
Read moreRude staff. Mediocre food. The heavy male host that ‘greeted’ us definitely had an attitude when we asked to be seated on the main floor vs climbing up the stairs for a table. We had to state twice that we preferred the main floor as he kept trying to lead us up the stairs. The menu says each person must order a meal and a drink. Whatever. We ordered one glass of wine, a Rosti, and one of the weekly braut specials that gave a choice of potatoe types. Our waiter seemed impatient and ran off as soon as he heard our order. The dishes arrived within twenty minutes and were delivered by a different wait staff. When we tried to tell him we preferred the other type of potatoe he scurried off to get our original waiter who said we ordered the French fries. Actually when taking the order he never even asked what type we wanted even though he said he did. Again, whatever, just please make it right. Eventually the au gratin potatoes arrived. The braut special dinner was so so. The rosti so so, really too salty. We had a long train trip and we’re hungry and tired and this was a huge disappointment to our day. Zermatt is too charming and we’ll be back but will definitely avoid this place and...
