Fireplace Grill and Bar — Restaurant in Lumphini Subdistrict

I really wanted to like this place as I was craving for a good steak but was looking to try a spot I've not been before. Went on a Saturday evening (13/7/24) and there were 3 tables including us. The restaurant felt lonely.

🥗 Had caesar salad for appetizer. I enjoyed that a lot. Leaves were fresh and crunchy. The bits of cured meat sprinkled on top had the perfect saltiness to go with the creamy dressing. Unfortunately, that was the only impressive dish of the night.

🥩 Got 2 beef dishes. Roast beef (฿3,600) was a bit tough and chewy. Sauce was all right. We didn't finish it as didn't like it so much but overall, it was edible.

We also got the US Rib Eye, 300g., ฿3,000. It tasted a bit sour like vinegar and lacking that beefy and hearty flavor. Upon mentioning this to the chef, she said "Oh if you order US beef, it will be a bit sour. That's the signature taste of US beef. Did the waitress fail to mention this to you before you ordered? I'm so sorry. Next time."

Not saying I'm a beef expert but I intentionally ordered the US Rib-Eye cos I love US meat generally, and it's never tasted sour to me. Why did it so here? And why did the chef justify the sour taste so confidently? If this is the actual flavor of the steak here then this is probably not my kinda steakhouse.

We went for valentine set dinner. We were expecting bit more from Michelin recommended restaurant. For starters, we were not offered any beverage menu at all, only choice of water. How come restaurant could not came with anything more than that ? As food was being served, it was done without any explanation what was food all about, just plain, silent service as one may experience in hole in the wall local restaurant. Another funny thing was that serving portions were different in size for people at the same table, in case of dessert it was so obvious, that I was surprised no one in the kitchen and from service staff did not spot it. Mind boggling really. At some point, we were served other table water (ours was already finished)... When it comes to food, it was ok, not really memorable, definitely not worth steep price tag, I would not recommend this place to my friends and have no intention of coming back here. How this place is acclaimed by Michelin guide baffles me and it does rather disservice to...
