Went in on a bank holiday Sunday night. The girl behind the bar was fun and friendly, the food options available - a mars bar. The £12 prosecco bottle deal wasn't actually prosecco, was a vino spumante and frankly horrible. There is a decent pint of Guinness. There are games for patrons to play while they drink (kerplunk, jenga etc). Deapite other places being packed it was quiet as no sports were on. Will try again another night

Busy, popular dog friendly pub on the market square, close to both the Town Hall and the Cathedral, which are both moments away. Smothered with sports television screens, if that's your thing. Loads of chicken and more chicken on the menu, but not very much choice for vegetarians. A convivial place. Handpulled cask beers were St Austell Tribute Cornish Pale Ale and Greene King IPA, which is the one I had.

We stayed in chester for two night break and luckily discovered this place the first night, loved it as it was away from the really busy areas. Sat outside during the recent heatwave and met lots of other tourists ! Lovely staff and the beer was great. Going back to chester next week and we will definitely be visiting again.

If your idea of a good night is having to listen to teenagers screeching into a karaoke machine whilst being served a mediocre pint of Guinness by a barman who was more than happy to serve a pint that had the barrel changed half way through being poured, meaning it sat there for five minutes and looked more like soup than Guinness when he finally finished pouring it then this is the place for you. He did agree to pour a fresh one, which was better than his first attempt, although it still wasn't to the standard you would expect when drinking Guinness in a pub called the Dublin packet. I realise that a karaoke night is meant to be fun, and the standard of singing isn't going to be good, but this was literally just four lads screaming into a mic as loud as they possibly could. Personally, the biggest problem was the quality of the drinks being served and the fact that the barman seemed quite happy to serve drinks that clearly weren't...

A bog standard English pub with an Irish name in my opinion.

*My main criticisms being:

Poor selection of draughts for an 'Irish' pub. No other stouts or Irish ale etc

I have had a pint of Guinness in this pub on several occasions and each time I'm let down The pint hasn't been poured correctly The pint itself is very watery and wasn't up to the standard I'd expect from an Irish pub

The pub is expensive for what it is.

*However, there are a few positive take aways:

The pub has a decent indoor seating area so it's great if you have a large group.

The pub is usually busy so the atmosphere is alright.

Its not a bad pub by English standards at all but if it's an Irish experience you're after you'll...

Shocking. Warm day so looking for a cool drink. Took a seat outside and waited patiently for a member of Staff to arrive and take our order. It never happened....Twice a Male and Female staff member came out and asked the same Gentleman (sitting near to the entrance door) if he wanted anything but neither turned to look at the other tables. We continued to wait and a one point I noticed through a window a staff member was resetting a table so I smiled and raised my hand in a kind of "Can we have service please" gesture. She turned never to be seen again.....we left with our thirsts unquenched feeling extremely disappointed. Won't be revisiting this...
