My recent dining experience at The Victory Inn with my family, including our furry companion, was a mix of delight and frustration. As usual, we settled into our preferred spot, either indoors or outdoors, expecting the tables to be clean and ready for us to order. However, this time, we found ourselves repeatedly asking for every single item and service we needed, which was quite unexpected given our frequent visits. It felt like the staff were stretched thin, multitasking and struggling to attend to each customer individually. This led to some discomfort, especially for the bartender who seemed to be handling multiple tasks at once.
Despite the service challenges, the food was a shining star, earning top marks from our group. Each dish was prepared with care and delivered with a cheerful demeanor, which somewhat mitigated the inconvenience we faced with the service. The menu offered a delightful array of traditional pub fare, satisfying both our cravings and our expectations.
The ambiance of The Victory Inn added to the overall experience, transporting us to an authentic English pub setting. The cozy interior was adorned with charming decor and memorabilia, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was evident that the establishment took pride in its heritage, and we enjoyed exploring the various trinkets and artifacts scattered throughout the space.
However, amidst the nostalgic charm, there were noticeable areas that could benefit from improvement. The cleanliness of the chairs and tables left something to be desired, and it was clear that more attention to detail was needed in maintaining a tidy and organized environment. Additionally, while the staff were friendly and accommodating, there was room for enhancement in terms of efficiency and attentiveness to customer needs.
In conclusion, while The Victory Inn provided a memorable dining experience with its delectable food and cozy ambiance, there are areas where it could elevate its service standards to ensure a consistently exceptional experience for all patrons. With a bit of refinement and attention to detail, this charming English pub could truly shine as a gem in the local...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. I've been following these pubs on instagram for months and the food looked so good so was very excited to try. We booked in advance and were asked if we wanted food or drink. We clearly stated food. Due to arrive at 8pm but called at 5pm on the day of arrival to move to 8:30pm because my partners car had broken down, I was told on the phone that was no problem. We travelled over to Brighton from Hastings and when we arrived we were left standing outside while they struggled to find our booking.. We came in and was lead to the smallest table which seemed odd. Ordered drinks and was left sitting waiting for 15mins, we then called over one of the staff members and asked if we were able to order food to which he bluntly replied "food stopped at 8:30" I questioned why I wasnt informed of this when I called seeing as I booked in for a food table 2 days ago and also gave a courtesy call 2hours before the booking to say we would be arriving later and was told this was fine. Staff member then rudely replied "don't know, food stopped at 8.30" barely apologetic to to say we were let down after travelling 1hr 10mins to get there barely cuts it. I had a plan to try this whole pub chain as it is so beautifully advertised but the service is shocking would definitely...
Read moreWhere do I start! I love going to the Victory Inn for the awesome variety of food.
The presentation is always spot on one of those meals where you think, “I’m going to smash this” but it’s so filling you end up boxing some up to take home. Honestly, it’s so good you’ll be glad you did because it makes an amazing next day lunch. Top quality food, well seasoned meats you’d never want it to go to waste.
In the pics:
Lebanese Shawarma Wrap with fries
Nachos loaded with cheese, guac, salsa, plus added Chicken Shawarma
Beef Sizzler (literally sizzling away on a hot day there was steam coming off it!)
Highly recommend trying the Shawarma wrap, it’s a solid 10/10.
I’ll definitely be going back and bringing friends. It’s bang in the center of Brighton, perfect for a great meal before a night out.
The Sunday roast. Unbelievable. The photo...
