New Year's Eve 2018
I've been to this venue a couple of times before and enjoyed it, don't know what was going on but something seemed off!
Very slow start... Food slow to come out, the food itself, starter potato cakes - bland, should've had risotto or mushrooms. Main, vegetarian Wellington, was just gross, over seasoned and smelt funny. My friend and I couldn't eat it. But they were good enough to change mine to soya bangers and mash, I'd not eaten all day so was hungry, but that was not nice either, the only edible bit the mash, there was hardly any of. The desert trio, was dry and meringue had a strange taste. I literally only ate a bite of each thing, was left hungry and so left the venue early as a result. Made me wonder if they were short staffed.
You can't buy a decent glass of wine! Have to buy a bottle-not good! Also, yes you do have a captive audience, but you would do better if you had a bar and your drinks were a bit cheaper! Some people would rather have the opportunity to get up and stretch their legs and get a drink themselves rather than wait. Maybe you could have both - table service during the meal!
Staff efficient and friendly but more staff interaction would've livened the night up. It lacked direction, needs a compare. Band rocked it and got the crowd going. Not a bad night, not a brilliant night.
Oh and the ladies toilets need a refurb and a good clean because they stank like a hamsters cage, I overheard a group of women complaining about them outside as we left, stating they'd walked back out, refused to use them and had been holding themselves all night!
I've had better evenings at Revolution De Cuba where they put a live band on, have 241 cocktails and 3 tapas for £14!
I wouldn't visit again in its current format.
Something is missing, they need to inject some...

Quiet atmosphere. There's maybe 7 tables. It's breathable but very mid as a party atmosphere, although the music choice is pretty good. I am hard of hearing so this kind of environment is never for me but deffo not what I expected.
Atmosphere mostly impacted by manager's announcement that we needed to pay extra for drinks they put on our table before we even got there. Why put them on the table if we can't drink them? Very cheeky tactic to get us to pay more than what the host had already forked out for. Really upset the host and ruined the entire evening.
Food isn't good. Poor choice for vegetarians. The mac and cheese balls weren't very saucy. Hardly tasted any cheese in there. The veggie croquettes were cold in the middle and honestly tasted of nothing. And the dessert was cute but the cheesecake had no distinct biscoff taste (to say its advertised as a biscoff cheesecake), and the crumble was covered in custard (I thought it was custard on the side, because I absolutely hate custard). Also took a very long time for all food to come out. Got here at exactly 7pm and they're only just tidying up after dessert at 9:15pm.
The cocktails are poor. There was practically no alcohol in the cocktail jugs.
Overall, wouldn't recommend this place - especially not for the...
Read moreI went to Bistro Live for a 30th birthday celebration. It was meant to be a night of cheese, but I found the music to be a little generic. It was disappointing that some of the best cheesy tracks were played towards closing time, I think they were needed sooner to get the night started.
I didn't expect much from the food, but it wasn't enjoyable. The starter, main and dessert were all very rich. The options seemed odd considering people were drinking/dancing afterwards.
The time between arrival and the DJ starting his set was very long. I understand that this was to allow time for the food to be served, but it deflated the night waiting around. It was also difficult to talk to your group over dinner because of the long, narrow table set up.
Despite the above, dancing on the stage/tables was fabulous. I love that the staff also join in for the cheesy dance routine songs. They definitely help make the party vibe.
Bistro Live is a good, easy party spot for a large group, but personally it wouldn't be my...
