Dear World,
In September, I visited Ohio to attend Nine Inch Nails’ “Fan Day” at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland — and then catch the band's subsequent concert near Akron, where I was staying.
Just before leaving Akron for Cleveland, I saw Sweet Mary’s Bakery across the street. I knew the best way to say “thank you” to the band and staff for staging such an awesome event was by providing quality baked goods. Every true NIN fan is aware of two things: 1) When Trent Reznor sings “I wanna feel you from the inside,” he’s speaking to, and about, a chocolate chip cookie, and 2) Trent really, really loves rainbows.
I asked the friendly staff at Mary’s for a dozen assorted cookies — and, if possible, one with the band’s logo recreated with frosting. Could they do that in, say, 15 minutes? Ohio’s cookie experts were up for what I clearly didn’t understand was an insane request.
The resulting cookie (pictured) replicated the logo exactly. Like the others purchased, it almost certainly achieved a perfect balance of sweetness and softness — or at least that’s what I assume, based off the smile of the band’s designer/cookie recipient.
Later, I approached fans/RRHOF staff with leftovers. Many used words like “fantastic” and “delicious,” or simply asked where the bakery was located.
There were also some more memorable comments (though my recollection is a little foggy, so these may not be the actual events):
“Need you. Dream you. Find you. Taste you. Love you,” one fan said, munching on and muttering to his cookie.
He began screaming: “TAS-TY! YUM-MY! HAP-PY!”
“I WANT A LITTLE BIT! I WANT A TASTE OF IT!” another NIN/cookie fan yelled, unable to control himself. “BITE! CHEW!”
Though I was a little afraid this man might bite the hand that fed him, I outstretched my arm and offered the box anyway; he politely took a treat, ate it, and smiled.
“Now doesn’t that make you feel better?” I asked. He nodded and said he could finally sleep soundly — that everything was all right.
I had a race the next day and needed discipline, particularly in regards to caloric consumption. However, I finally tried a cookie myself — and realized I had stumbled upon the best bakery in all of Ohio.
“I'd rather die than give you this cookie,” I said to no one...
Read moreI visited Sweet Mary's Bakery today, and I am happy that I did. I Googled, "Tiramisu Near Me." Sweet Mary's Bakery was first on the list. The business is thriving due to the many options available for the customers. I specifically wanted a piece of Tiramisu, and two Blueberry Scones. The young lady who assisted me informed me that there was one Blueberry Scone left, but she offered the Blackberry and Ginger Scone in place of the second Blueberry Scone. The thought of Blackberry and Ginger did not seem enticing. She explained that, "The ginger gives a burst of flavor." I'm on a new path where I am trying new things, so I elected the Blueberry and Blackberry and Ginger Scones. Let me tell you, "I AM SO GLAD I DID!" The Blackberry and Ginger Scone was amazing! The Tiramisu was amazing! The Blueberry Scone was amazing! There are many more items I want to experience for the sake of my taste buds. (Smile) Please, if you are ever on Mill Street in downtown Akron, make sure that you take a trip to Sweet Mary's Bakery. You will not be disappointed. Your taste buds will "Thank You". I will definitely make Sweet Mary's Bakery a part of my "Me Time". There is so much to choose from at Sweet Mary's Bakery, and I deserve every bit of it!
I highly recommend Sweet Mary's Bakery to my family, friends, and strangers. Plan for enjoyment at the highest rate of anticipation. Bon...

Mike couldn’t stop raving about the sausage gravy and biscuit—he called it divine! The biscuit was perfectly flaky and the gravy had just the right balance of rich, savory goodness. It’s clear that they put a lot of care into their dishes.
As for me, I had the gluten-free raspberry chocolate cheesecake, and let me tell you, it was to die for! The combination of rich chocolate and tangy raspberry was an absolute dream, and the gluten-free crust was so delicious that you wouldn’t even know it wasn’t made with traditional flour.
We left Sweet Mary’s with full stomachs and big smiles. The quality of their baked goods and desserts is top-tier, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend this bakery for anyone looking for delicious treats and scrumptious savory selections. I only wish they had a bigger space for eating in and enjoying a leisurely...
