Overall: fantastic food and service, very affordable for the quality of food, although we wish they would bring live music back or play more on the speakers. We got mozzarella sticks for an app, there were five of them, big enough to share and enough cheese for half a meal. Loved these and the included marinara was very good as well. The brisket mac and cheese was absolutely amazing. The brisket was tender and the perfect amount of sweet from the blackberries, and the mac and cheese added just the right amount of savory. The aftertaste of the brisket was wonderful, I was able to take in every bite fully without needing another right away. It looks like a small portion but I was ravenous and still only got 3/4 of the way through the pan as it is very rich and filling. For dessert we got a cheesecake which was rich and a good portion, and their seven layer chocolate cake which is definitely sharing size especially if you add a scoop of ice cream on top. Delicious all around! The drinks are great, with a wide variety of cocktails, ale, and locally sourced beer on tap. Lavender lemonade was as expected, the jungle juice was quite good if a little overpriced, and the waitress let us sample beers before we chose a full glass. The service was quick and our waitress was very nice, helpful when trying to choose drinks and obviously well versed in the food, it's contents, and each item's popularity, having a few favorites of her own. We never ran out of water, either, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere was good, although the staff told us that they stopped doing live music after covid. My table agreed that live music, or at least some local music playing over the speakers, would've really completed a local Asheville classic. Beautiful place even without it, the lighting wasn't too dim and the decorations helped create a tavern feel. Will definitely be coming here again when we're in the area. 100% worth it for the affordable price, excellent service, and delectable food.

I decided to check this place out during my mini holiday weekend getaway. It was within walking distance to my hotel and after looking at their menu, I saw a few tempting options. Unfortunately, it definitely left a lot to be desired. I had to wait about 10 minutes for a spot to open up at the bar, not surprising though for a Friday around 7pm. There was a secondary bar on the lower level, but it looked completely closed off. Once I got seated, the bartender gave me some food and drink menus, since it was Friday, I decided to try their Orange Crush special, which was a frozen drink with 151, vodka, and OJ. To be completely honest though, it tasted like 100% frozen orange juice, so that was disappointing. I decided to start with their "big mozzarella sticks"- I wanted to try a classic, and I was excited about this dish. When the plate came out though, it was a major let down- the mozzarella sticks were in no way noticeably/significantly larger than normal - maybe 25% at best, and there were only five of them; in other words, I could've gotten a larger platter/portion at Applebees or Chilis for half the cost (this app was $15, so severely overpriced, especially for size/value in my opinion). Flavor wise, they were pretty standard; greasy but tasty. The breading was another issue though, the cheese wasn't even completely breaded so it sort of fell apart in my hands. After two disappointments, I decided not to get an entree. I might have just ordered the wrong drink and app, but I'm a little lost on the buzz over this place.

When you have the confidence to serve your brisket with a spoon, you KNOW what you're serving and how you're serving it. This was our first meal upon arriving in Ashville. Pack's has the location, the atmosphere, and the food. They have an almost unfair advantage, but they are at least utilizing it to the fullest. I had the brisket mac, I spent most of my time just salivating with it in my mouth with a stupid grin on my face. My wife had a burger, she asked for medium well and she got medium well. The outdoor dining space was just as exciting as the indoor space. The host private events, they have a stone pizza oven, and the drinks were also top notch. My compliments to the chef. They also serve a house made Root Beer, weirdly enough I am a fan of custom brewed root beers and cream sodas and this one wasn't half bad, on the sweet side. The service is the only thing that could use some honing. The server staff was completely average. Hospitable enough, just nothing to brag about. We had two meals here over our 5 days, and the server forgot to put in my appetizer, they opted to let me have it with my dinner or cancel it. They made little effort to rectify the mistake, the only notable part of the experience was that I didn't find out about the mistake until roughly a minute before my actual meal arrived. Overall still a great experience and worth a visit if you are in the area.

This place was recommended by Biltmore. I really don't know why. It's like a wild wings cafe/pub style feel. Real casual bar atmosphere. Service staff polite but not refined. Ok to go get a cheap meal with low grade ingredients. Ordered a root. Ever float, artichoke dip, hamburger with onions and Shepard pie. Float tasted good but spilled everywhere when you put a straw in it. (Server warned us and brought extra napkins) this is just crazy. My total bill with tip was $55. Artichoke dip was chunky style with lots of cheese. As dish cools cheese hardens and clumps together making it hard to eat. We only had a few bites, did not finish and we're not questioned. Burger was greasy and patty seemed like it was ground in a blender like to purée consistency. Patty meat was fine ground. Did not finish. Shepard pie was unlike I had ever had. I ate 3/4 of it as I was hungry. A little soupy but not hearty and thick like I am used too. Was really dissatisfied with it all. There are so many great places that are on the main drag, the southern end of Biltmore Ave that I discovered afterwards that would have been sooooo much better with outdoor seating. Unless you want to eat cheap casual and quick. Go here but get there before 6 pm on a Saturday otherwise your waiting. Probably because they have live music. All in all just ok but I can have just ok at home. My total bill with tip was $55.

Had one of the worst service experiences ever, and I travel for a living. We made rsvp at noon for eve dinner. Should have known then, our business was unwanted. Mgr made several excuses abt why they couldn't accommodate a group of 12. We gave up, then he changed his mind. We arrived, 40 mins in, no drinks, or appetizers, waitress says her manager wanted to advise our orders would take another 40 mins bc they had a new 1k order to prep. How insultingly rude. So, he didn't know w our rsvp how to prep? And to tell us others were more important than us actually waiting? Tbh, we've been in avl three months. We've eaten at all the big and little restaurants, NO ONE has treated us so poorly... especially since the restaurants are not full AND we ALWAYS have several rounds of wine and / or drinks. Just the night before, we tried the $140 farm to table steaks a few blocks over. THEY were SO gracious, they stayed open late, at their own choice, and we kept drinking, eating, and tipped accordingly. This def left a bad taste with twelve out of towners. Most of us live in state and visit here often. This was to be our going away meal. It was such a bummer that we had to have another celebration the following night. Bbq brisket & mac, wings were good. Not good enough to ever return. Shame on Pack's.
