I have a debit card with no tap feature and a chip that's almost always broken, necessitating a swipe. This may sound like a pain if you work with a POS system, but I've almost never been completely unable to pay for food like I was today at East Wave.
When I was ready to pay for my order, I asked if I could pay cash and was told no. Then, I asked if I could swipe my card due to a broken chip and was again told no. Then, I asked if the cashier could manually enter the number and got a third "no" with zero hesitation or any attempt to resolve the issue. I told him to cancel my order and went to Ali Baba Mediterranean instead.
Customer service skills were lacking during my visit today. I'm rating two stars instead of one because the problem I had here is one that most aren't likely to have, and the restaurant interior is immaculate. That said, I'll never come back here because it was clear that East Wave didn't want...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter hearing my friend's rave review of East Wave she convinced me to make a visit with her. We had a great experience. The restaurant is modern, bright and feels really clean. The staff was kind and patient as we read over the new menu and they made suggestions, too! My friend and I shared jasmine green milk tea, pork buns & chicken dumplings. Everything was delicious! A neon photo mural on the wall caught my eye, so I asked Alex, who turned out to be the manager/ co-owner. He told me it's of some old Korean & Chinese buildings. All three of us then talked about our mutual love of food and culture for a while. We were able to get our paws on a few new versions of their teas. The lychee, matcha, Thai tea, taro, and green apple are just a few of their new creations. Our favorites were the green apple and the lychee flavors, which were lightly sweet and very refreshing. Final statement: We will be back...
ย ย ย Read moreThis restaurant recently reopened as a Korean street food restaurant, and I am so glad that it did. It is the most authentic Korean Iโve tried south of Doraville and definitely the best in the downtown area. The menu boasts a variety of tasty, traditional Korean food items that remind you of ummaโs cooking, including customizable combos, which I personally have really enjoyed. The portions are generous, pricing is very reasonable, the service is friendly and quick, and the vibes are chill if youโre planning to sit down for a meal. Iโve seen many Korean-speaking Koreans come through for lunch and that in itself speaks to the authenticity of this place. Itโs encouraging to see a Korean establishment in downtown ATL that actually does its food right and represents Korean cuisine well. Definitely make it a point to check out this spot and you wonโt be...
