I typically donât write negative reviews, but if there was ever a cause for one, this is it. I am beyond disappointed and concerned about the service and food poisoning my friend an I experienced at Marlowâs Tavern in Midtown this past Saturday. I have been to this location a dozen times before without incident, but this time was certainly different. I joined two friends for a causal lunch. Two of us ordered the grilled chicken sandwiches and one the fish tacos. I donât like toppings, so I only got the meat and the bread on my chicken sandwich. My friend got all the toppings on his chicken sandwich. Within 15 mins of eating the sandwich my friend stomach started making loud sounds and he experienced uncontrollable belching. He excused himself to the restroom. Within 3-4 minutes after his episode, I started feeling nauseated and began to frantically check my food and drink water. I then had to rush to the restroom to vomit 3 times in a row. I came back to the table to learn my friend was having the same reaction. We called the waiter over to explain and he was very shocked and scared. I checked the meat was found it was certainly cooked thoroughly and was even slightly burned. Both of us who had the chicken were very sick and the person who had the fish was fine. We immediately asked for the manager. As the manager walked up, I expected to be greeted with concern, but his response was quite the contrary. He was very dismissive and said, âWe have been serving chicken all day and no one else has had a problem,â and âMaybe you two are sick from another place you both went toâ. I explained this was not only my first meal of the day, but I had not seen this friend in over 5 years and they donât even live in this city. He then said, âWell, I donât know what to tell you,â and âWhat do you want me to do about it?â. It was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I am sitting there sick with a red face and puffy eyes from vomiting uncontrollably, and was basically told that the restaurant isnât going to do anything. I asked him was he going to inform the kitchen and get rid of the chicken. He responded â No, because there is nothing wrong with the chickenâ. I asked him for his contact info and he questioned âWhy?â. He then offered to bring another meal, as if we would eat something else from there. We asked for our check to just leave and he didnât even bother to compensate the meal and gave 30% discount instead. We didnât even argue and just paid it and left the restaurant. I was ill for almost two days after this incident and it completely ruined my Labor Day weekend. I am not only disappointed in the food poisoning, but even more so the response from management. PLEASE EVERYONE READING THIS, NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. If they donât care if two people get ill from their food, What on earth do they care about? I am reaching out to any resource that will listen because this food and service is unacceptable and needs to be highlighted. (see photo of the business card from the unprofessional...
Read moreCame here for a quick bite because I love Marlows. When I walked in the bartender ignored me he was facing the entrance, looked up quickly at me ( so he saw me walk in )and continues talking to someone at the bar. It was extremely slow and not crowded . Someone finally came and sat me. Because I enjoy there food I didnât address this and sat down. I ordered a Caesar salad and my entree. Went to rest room came back, drinks were on the table. I sat there for at least another 10-15 mins waiting on my salad , ( enough time passed for me to answer 2 work emails and multiple texts ) and no service or salad. I kept looking around for my waitress, finally located her sitting in another booth eating. I immediately got up and asked for the manger . I spoke with two people a lady and a man and explained to them what happened. I was so upset because I was rushing and wanted to enjoy a quick meal. This is unacceptable on every level . The employees seem to manage themselves , because the managers I spoke with were at a table in the corner of the restaurant and had been sitting there when I walked in. I know this because she didnât even see me walked in, I had to wait at the door and she looked over to come seat me . I have never had a bad experience at Marlowâs before today and this was my first and last time ever coming to this location on Peachtree St NW . There is no excuse for his type of service or behavior and for the waitress to sit and eat while she has customers, shows this is a common occurrence and she knew she could do this without repercussions. There were a total of 8 customers ( 3 at the bar , two couples and myself) in the entire restaurant. There was more staff than customers, so there is no excuse . If itâs time for your break then have someone cover . I am so annoyed and no it does not matter how much you apologize as I am leaving. Manage your staff better so that they donât feel comfortable doing this to any patron. I had to leave and was unable...
Read moreAccidentally would up here thinking it was a place I previously eaten at but it was not. I did not need a reservation. Visited on a Thursday. Paid city parking around venue (inexpensive, around $2.35 per hour) no valet.
The Service: Interacted with hostess and our then our server. Who was 5 starđ! He had the best personality in a long time. Authentic, thorough, made suggestions and customized other suggestions based on listening. He was neat, we groomed and importantly enthusiastic about the venue! Ask for him by name heâs AJ. He only there 3 days out the week đ
The Food: I had a light appetite this day and orders the suggested Lobster and shrimp Chowder. It was delicious! đ my o LY grip is I wish there was more portion. It comes in one of those wide shallow dishes that looks like a good portion but itâs only about 1 measuring cup for $12. Iâd like this as a main dish in a bigger bowl and charge $30 for it. We also ordered the A la carte jalapeño, shrimp and grits and it has good consistency and I liked the corn addition. Lastly, the Shrimp Camanelle had a good blend of vegetables and noodles ratio with cream sauce. Everything tastes good! Flavors were balanced, nothing was too salty or under seasoned. Perfect
The setting: PROs-Had a nice ambiance. Low light levels, comfy booths that felt private and sleeker high top setting. Also has a bar. It could also accommodate a decent size group of 10-12.
CONs- When walking Ini could tell where the podium was for the hostess. I think it was the lighting in that main entry area but also itâs a distance inside from the door to the host stand so at first I was confused about where to go to request a seat. It was a little chilly for me but this might be a plus to others. Bring a light sweater/jacket or were...
