I've been a frequent customer of Momonoki for the past 5 years and I've loved it so far! The food is so yummy and I adore the cafe and the calming music and atmosphere.
Here's my favorites of all their foods: I love their filled croissants. My favorite croissant they had was an Earl Grey one which I think was seasonal because they don't have it on the menu anymore. Their scones are fairly filling. Their bacon and scallion scone is really yummy and super flavorful with what seems like a butter glaze on top and while it doesn't seem very big, it's so dense that it fills you up. Their sandos are so good. I love that the sandos are made with a thinner milk bread! Their fried chicken one is always so good. I also used to enjoy the egg sando more, but then there was a harsh wasabi taste that started to come through that became more unpleasant for me and I don't believe you can ask them to exclude it. I really enjoy their lattes if I'm in the mood for coffee, but for a non-coffee drink, their hoji cha latte is really good and has an earthy yet chocolate after-taste.
My observations from the past years: The merch can get a little confusing. I wish there either were more detailed pictures when you went to buy the merch online so you could see what was available. There was a really cute strawberry croissant canvas tote bag I wanted to buy, but I think it was sold out before I could buy it. I'm unsure if they will restock it. I find that sometimes the food and the drinks don't come out hot enough and tend to get cold quickly. I personally prefer kid-temp drinks but I wish the food came out a bit warmer from the kitchen. If you order takeout that includes both a cafe drink and a food item, the system is a little confusing because it's a bit confusing where you go to pick up the takeout and if you should just walk up to the staff in the kitchen or go to the barista in the cafe. Sometimes I've waited a bit because the cafe makes the drink when I arrive and if there's a pastry, then due to the lack of communication between the kitchen and cafe, you'll need to wait for the kitchen to put it together. I recently went there and there's a new way they're doing service, were you go to the podium to be seated, but then you have to walk back to the podium again to order. I got confused because I didn't realize I needed to remember my table number on the little metal thing they gave me so it was inconvenient to have to go back to the table to check. If they are going to provide more service from the staff, then they should either do full traditional table service where the staff seats you and then takes your order via a handheld, or go back to where you would scan the menu off the table and could call the staff over if you needed help.
Overall, I really enjoy Momonoki and it's one of my favorite cafes to go to, so I'm excited to see what new items they come up with. I hope that they only...
Read moreI absolutely love the atmosphere at Momonoki! This place has quickly become one of my go-to spots, and I've returned several times because it consistently delivers on both food and ambiance.
The brown sugar latte was delicious, and I highly recommend trying their sesame latte - it has this amazing balance of savory and sweet that keeps you coming back for more. Their drink menu offers unique flavors you won't easily find at other coffee shops.
Good Lord, the desserts here are incredible! I tried what I believe was a crème brûlée croissant, and it was absolutely satisfying. If you have a sweet tooth, their dessert selection is lovely with such unique varieties that are hard to find elsewhere. But Momonoki isn't just about coffee and sweets - they also serve substantial meals. Their lunch menu includes options like teriyaki and ramen, offering very filling and satisfying dishes. It's rare to find a coffee shop that successfully pulls off this dual concept of café and restaurant.
The layout is fantastic with two floors, giving you plenty of options for where to sit and study. They also have a beautiful covered outdoor area, so whether you prefer inside, outside, or upstairs, there's a perfect spot for you. How many coffee shops can offer that kind of variety? The space is filled with natural lighting and offers a variety of seating options. I particularly love being able to study outside in beautiful weather while still having the comfort of being covered. The wheelchair accessibility is also a great feature that makes this space welcoming to everyone.
Parking was easy - plenty of options both on the street and in nearby garages. This might have been because of the time we visited (it's located in a college area), but it was convenient nonetheless.
Overall, this is an ideal spot for college students, professionals meeting with colleagues, or friends looking to enjoy great food in a wonderful atmosphere. The professional setup and variety of spaces make it work for studying, casual meetings, or just relaxing. Momonoki truly goes for the "double kill" - excellent coffee shop vibes combined with quality restaurant offerings. The unique drink and dessert selection, substantial food options, flexible seating arrangements, and welcoming atmosphere make this a standout spot in Atlanta. I keep coming back, and I'm sure...
Read moreMomonoki is a Japanese cuisine inspired restaurant located in Atlanta, GA right off of Williams and 8th St. NW. It's hard to miss. It's right next to the new NCR building. This is very popular stop for the local university students as well as the work crowd in the area. They do validate parking here so make sure you choose the parking deck that has the sign for validation.
The people behind Brush Izakaya are responsible for this place as well. Half restaurant and half cafe, Momonoki offers a bright and modern interior design with bright colors, high ceilings, and an open floor plan. You have seating options for a decent size crowd both in and outside of the main dining area. You can also sit on the upper level above the cafe.
Momonoki serves Ramen, Tsukemen (dipping ramen), Donburi (raw/cooked rice bowls), Katsu Sando (Japanese cutlet sandwiches), salads and small plates to name a few. They offer Japanese inspired drinks as well as some alcoholic options like cocktails and sake. The cafe portion of the restaurant serves coffee, drinks, and other sweets and desserts. They are perhaps most well known for their black sesame and matcha soft serve ice cream swirl. I'm pretty sure you've see this one on Instagram by now. Everyone post a picture of this. It's is very pleasing on the eyes for sure.
The food itself here is really good especially the pork belly they use that was a key ingredient in a few dishes I ordered. It's very juicy and tender. Lots of savory flavors in each bite. Definitely get the Tsukemen ramen and the Katsu Sando as well as thr Peach Ice Tea and Black Sesame and Matcha ice cream if you can on your first visit. That combo really highlights most of the menu here.
In terms of service, you pretty much just order at the counter and they give you a number that will be used to identify you when they bring out your order. Really simple and once you are done, just leave you food on the table, get up and leave.
Overall, this places delivers on most fronts. Definitely worth stopping by to checkout. I would come here just for the ice cream alone and also the peach ice tea too. It's a great spot in general and well worth the drive for any any of my OTP folks.
