The restaurant itself has a unique decorated atmosphere. Very colorful decor just as you would expect in a Mexican restaurant. A friend of mine recommended this place, so we decided to give it a try. When we came in their was no host, so we waited about 5 minutes until finally one came up and she sat us on a table that was not wiped down. It was sticky and had rice all over it. I asked her to wipe it and she said ok and walked away never coming back to wipe it. After about 10 minutes our waiter finally came and he wiped it down for us. The menus were sticky and dirty. Our waiter was great. He was very attentive and quick to our needs. We heard the food here is amazing, but were a bit disappointed to find out that its your average Mexican food. The food was kind of bland and didn't have enough flavor to it. Its your typical Mexican restaurant that's just located downtown and for that reason costs much more. You can get the same food at a lesser cost at your typical local mom and pop Mexican restaurant and honestly it would probably taste better. The dessert here was ok, way too sweet and basic. Nothing special. It also kind of felt dark inside like the restaurant hasn't had a good cleaning in a while and seems that it needs a good deep cleaning. Had that sticky feeling. The bathroom had toilet paper all over the floors and needed to be cleaned. Overall, the experience was definitely not what we expected. We drove 50 miles to try this place and unfortunately, we will not be coming back. Nothing against this place, its just Ok, but nothing special. Its definitely not like one of those hole in the wall places that you want to say wow lets go back. I am posting my review just so that the owner can be aware of what we observed on our first experience and hoping they will take some of the advise into consideration. I'd highly recommend that you close the restaurant for at least 1day and give it a nice deep cleaning it would make a huge difference. Wash your menus, dust your decor, deep clean tables, chairs, walls, bathrooms, pretty much the whole restaurant it desperately needs it. Otherwise, it was very busy and seems like a place many ppl enjoy to come and hang out at. This restaurant has some potential if they would clean up some and maybe improve food flavor and desserts.
Edit: To the owners response: I do not know what table # we sat at, but we asked the waiter whether ya'll were busy and he said that yall were actually consider very slow because everyone was at the game. When we came in their was plenty of open tables and out food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Our complaint wasn't regarding how busy ya'll were, if you read my origional comment, how busy yall were wasnt the problem to our complaint. Actually, just a missing host to seat customers was missing in action. I just wanted to share with you that the restaurant felt dirty and needs a deep clean and dusting. Menus were sticky, table was sticky, my long sleeve shirt got dirty as I leaned my arms against it. This shouldn't happen. The bathrooms were dirty. The fact the Falcons and Rams played doesn't excuse that the food was bland and the restaurant was dirty. This is something that can easily be fixed if you really just take a customers advise and fix it instead of finding an excuse for your restaurant. Seriously, this review isn't meant to be ugly in any way. Like I said, your restaurant has a lot of potential, just fix these items I mentioned, and it will greatly help improve your restaurant. Thanks for...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant as a recommendation from my hotel staff at the reverb hotel some blocks down. This was our first meal of our visit to Atlanta, Georgia!
Atmosphere Do know that if you walk from the reverb to this place, it is not just down the street it is a little walk but the atmosphere you walk in to is so cool and very decorative. Really great if you are vloggers like we are or just want to capture, nice memories for yourself. We ended up getting stuck in a very dark corner where the seats could’ve been a little cleaner, but nevertheless, it was quiet and the decor is really neat. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a large bar if that’s your thing and the building is even multiple levels.
Food As for food we ended up getting the nachos which reminded me of Freebirds if you’ve ever been there, where the food is already premade, and is just put on the plate as you desire it. The food came out super Duper fast and I’m thinking it is not cooked fresh each time you order. The cheese was good but very runny so it ended up on the bottom of the plate instead of on the chips. We ordered one beef and one chicken to share and try out. The beef had a very much Dog food kind of flavor very strange and nauseating. We could not even finish it. The chicken had a good smoke flavor just no seasoning, but was the best of the two to consume. You do get set ups with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes with this. We brought up not liking the nachos with the beef when checked on and the waitress. just kind of laughed it off and kept it moving. Afterwards we had sopapillas Which are our favorite things to get back home in Texas and while there were many of them, they were flavorless. It was like just chewing on puffy flavorless bread with honey. The presentation was nice because you get a huge dollop of whip cream In the middle and some honey on top but at the end, we maybe ate one and a half pieces each because there just wasn’t much flavor. Once again, we brought this up to our waitress and NOTHING m!! She kindly brought us our ticket that’s what we got lmbo! Definitely used to being back in Texas where if you don’t like something they want to make it right and will either get you something else or just take it off the bill. The waitress herself was very attentive just not very accommodating when it came to fixing an obvious issue. We did let her know that this was our first time in Georgia and visiting the Catina so you would think she would want to make it a good impression, but it was more of a sorry for your luck feel lol. Luckily from eating the grilled chicken nachos and drinking a lot of tea we still ended up with a full tummy for the night but unfortunately won’t be going back. They are very limited on their drinks. They have Coke products, sweet tea, and lemonade, and we ended up getting Arnold Palmers Of which we put our own sweetener in because they are not sweet at all but tasted pretty good after adding some sweetness to them. Hope this helps someone and good luck...
Read moreThe missing 2 stars has absolutely NOTHING to do with the food, atmosphere or even our server. Our server was AMAZING (Crystal M)! She was on top of everything and we were a large party. The building is amazing and I love the layout and you had fried ice cream!!!! That was AMAZING!!!
There were 10 of us at one table and 8 others had come in. Because it was Valentine's weekend as well as CheerSport, they wanted $150 deposit to hold a room/private area for it. We opted to get multiple regular reservations and hope we could sit side by side or fairly close to each other. This was intended to be a team bonding event. The hostess was incredibly rude from the time we got there until we left. There was a large table next to us (the first 10 who got there) yet she chose to put them (the second group to show up from our party) somewhere else because that table was for a reservation...even though we too had a reservation. I, for the life of me, could not understand WHY she would not put our parties next to each other and the other reservation where she put the other half of our party. Our server even tried to argue to put our parties side by side and it was finally approved, but the other 8 people didn't want to cause problems, so we sat no where near each other. The hostess on Saturday night 02.15.2025 is the reason for the 3 star rating...and to top it off...the reserved table next to us was never utilized the 2 hours we were there. I do firmly believe she was unwilling to try to accommodate our party (of almost 20 people) just because she could. As petty as that sounds...that is how it all came off.
I would come back but not with a large party and I would love to sit in our servers section again. She was fun, fast and incredibly nice. You are lucky to have her!
REPLY TO No Mas:
I have worked in the restaurant industry and specifically a Mexican restaurant as a hostess and I can absolutely assure you that it is indeed THAT SIMPLE. The choice to now swap two tables of the same size as being deemed too difficult to do just clearly shows the unwillingness to work with customers and to top it off, again, the second table next to us was never used. So either the other party did not show up or there never was a reservation. We did NOT go with the required $150 which would be split up because we were told it would applied to the final check, but we paid with separate checks and one person would have put up all the money-Nobody wanted to deal with fighting to get a refund. Also, it was not packed and nobody was waiting, so saying it was such a busy evening is nonsense. Our original reservation was for 6:30pm, but we ran late and called and had it changed to 7:00pm, so clearly it was not THAT busy that you were able to accommodate that.
Because of your reply and dismissal, I promise we will not patronize again. I am sorry for Crystal as she was the highlight of our evening with her...
