I truly wish I took photos, but I was in a hurry. I ordered the chicken mac and cheese. The chicken was actually great hence the 2 stars... however everything else is downhill from here. The mac and cheese was pretty awful, it contained more grease than cheese, as if it was old and microwaved. The place even smelled funky... I hear you, that's on me for not just walking out, but I already felt committed. Mistake confirmed. Really I just needed something quick, but it was a little too quick how fast the food came out, which is also why I think it was microwaved.

Ultimately 15 bucks for that experience when it was maybe worth half that is wild, both workers were literally just sitting outside people watching and not working, that was the other big red flag. Like they really wanted to sit and do nothing more than anything. Why did you get a job then?? If they aren't working to maintain cleanliness and organization of a "high" quality restaurant than the place is gonna look exactly like it did, if not worse, for all of time. Inside was plastered with fans attempting to blow the funky smell out, I'm surprised they didn't prop the door. Never feel bad walking out of a restaurant when it smells weird. That was my lesson from this experience. Everything stated in this review is 100% genuine. I hope this changes things but let's be honest, I doubt anything will result of this review cuz I'm just a random customer in this bustling tourist spot.

P.S. perhaps their other food is much better but even then you are, no joke, risking your health eating here. You know it's bad when right away you're thinking "I hope I don't get sick from eating this.. I just need something dam it." Luckily I didn't get sick just very disappointed considering how highly rated this place is, currently.

Anddd incoming smart a** response...

Looking for bread pudding- this place came up. I decided to try the Creole potatoes at $5 and added sausage for $10 more. The sausage taste like Georgia boy sausage which doesn’t warrant $10 cost. Felt more like a $5 addition. Potatoes were fine, but weren’t unique as I was looking for. Beware that the dish comes with cheese on it even though the menu doesn’t specify this allergen. Coffee was coffee.

The red velvet cake looks like a brownie in the dark Moody lit store. Upon closer look, it is red, but it does taste like a brownie and a cake. The icing is store-bought taste, I’m ok with their unconventional icing layer on top. Didn’t love it.

Bread Pudding- Top tier. Great value, portion and unique taste. This bread pudding is a hit.10/10 I woke with stomach pains because I ate this dessert entirely too fast knowing I’m lactose intolerant, but it was so good. I couldn’t stop.

Small kitchen, so I understand having a menu that you can accommodate. Their walk-in bowls are popular, but mostly had shrimp or cheese, which I don’t do which is why I went to the breakfast all day options. The white sauce taste like a reduced seafood boil broth. They had a board with daily specials on it that I didn’t see until after I ordered and wasn’t mentioned. The cashier lady was great spirit and great service as well as the chef was great too. Fair restroom and adequate...

This place is so lovely! It's a small hole in the wall sort of place, and that's what attracts me. I took my partner for his birthday meal after we visited the Aquarium. Fantastic! We got the Voodoo BBQ Chicken and Mac, Shrimp and Grits and Gumbo to share, all regular sized per other reviews. We still had some left over. It's a lot of food! Very tasty! Grits were nice and fluffy and not watery. Shrimp in the shrimp and grits was a little over what I like, but it wasn't that noticeable and shrimp in the Gumbo was excellent. The flavors were perfect. We were given Angie's Bread Pudding samples upon ordering and saying it was our first time there. I was already intending on ordering some, but the samples were so good that I was very eager to leave enough room. When I went to order the bread pudding, I thought I'd get one for me and one for my partner and two for later or tomorrow for us so I got four. I didn't realize the bread pudding servings were a huge take out platter size! My partner and I split one of them in the restaurant. We'll be sharing the others with family, probably save one more for ourselves. It's seriously the best bread pudding either of us have ever had, and we've been to New Orleans more than once. So tasty! Amazing price! Definitely worth the trip! Thank you...

Here’s your review rewritten for clarity, flow, and a little extra polish while keeping your enthusiasm: ⸻ I’m in downtown Atlanta for a work trip and found this gem within walking distance — and wow, it’s top tier! The service from Shante was absolutely spectacular; she was so warm and welcoming. Now, let’s talk about the food: I’m starting to think all the great cooks left New Orleans for Atlanta! The pasta yaya and bread pudding took me straight back home. If you’re ever in Atlanta, make sure The Food Shoppe is on your must-visit!

OMG where do I start? My daughter and I were at the Omni Hotel for a meeting. We were starving. She googles nearby restaurants and The Food Shoppe came up. I read the reviews and they sounded pretty good. So I told her, "Let's give it a try". So away we went. It was walking distance from our location. We just ordered things from the menu we thought we'd like - She the ham omelet and for me the YaYa pasta, seafood bisque and a bread pudding to share. EVERYTHING was sooo tasty and there is more than enough for one meal. I was blown away by the taste and the quality of the food. I travel to NOLA quite often and this place rivals anything I've had there. So late into the night we bunp into each other sneaking into our kitchen to get the last bit of bread pudding. That was on a Saturday afternoon. Fast forward ONE DAY and who takes and Uber at lunchtime to pick up the same meal??? This girl - LOL. I absolutely loved it and we will be visiting frequently.. You CANNOT and WILL NOT go wrong here folks! A secret little place with a whole lot of flavor!! And the ambiance was really nice too!
