Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Atlantic City

Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted and seated by a woman whose accent was so thick I couldn't understand a word she said. It was an early lunch, so the restaurant was nearly empty. Multiple servers were gathered at a table by the bar, unaware of their surroundings and doing absolutely nothing. We sat for about 15 minutes before one of the gathered severs said "someone's here, who's got it?" When the other employees turned around, the man who had previously spoken pointed directly at me, laughed, and said "she's right there staring at me!" A different server came over to our table and said "I'm sorry.. I didn't see you there." The other employee continued walking around the restaurant telling coworkers that I still wouldn't stop staring at him, when I was simply viewing my surroundings. I got the American Standard burger, which was lacking on the bacon and onion. I asked for no pickles and after the food arrived the server asked "there's no pickles on that right?" before I had even tasted the burger, and to be honest, I was kind of relying on him and the kitchen staff to be sure of that! He spoke awkwardly and could definitely use more training. I would have given the place one star based solely on the staff, however once the server relaxed he made it up to us with kindness and by charging us for waters rather than the two cups of pepsi we ordered, and the one cup of iced tea my sister ordered before she realized applebees only has its own sugar substitute and doesn't provide the option between sweet-n-low and splenda. I'm local so this is... Well Was a place to go for anything from girls night out drinks to family time with the kid's. This time I went with my my children and I've got to admit that it was a bad experience. My 2 children ordered 5.99 meals with a shake with was 2.99 and my youngest ordered a 4.99 kids meal with the drink included. Today was steak day so I got the steak for 10.99 plus 3.00 for an 8 oz upgrade and about 5 bucks to add shrimp, spinach dip that was half off, oh and a one dollar long island.. I ended up leaving having paid 67 bucks total for an order that should have been more like 45 bucks. Then the manager proceeded to tell me that it should have been 56 bucks with the tax. 11 bucks for tax???? I gave her 70 dollars but she never even returned my change until I said something(tip included before I realized that she tried to trick me and keep all of my money). My steak was not well done even after I sent it back, so I didn't even eat it. I packed it up hoping to cook it more when i got home. I never got my receipt. I got a random receipt from someone else's order so I never even saw my receipt for myself even after I spoke with the manager. He was nice and offered a gift card through email for all of the confusion which I'll probably never see but I honestly feel like why would I want to come back. Who's to say I won't get the same waitress or some other issue may occur. That woman made out with who knows how much after lying and in my eyes stealing and I get to MAYBE get a gift card to come back and experience everything again. We visited this Applebee's location on 6/28/25. We were greeted by Lisa. She was professional in her approach and more importantly very personable. She has an ability to connect with a Patron. There was an issue with our order and Lisa was apologetic even though the issue was from the kitchen. Both she and John the manager was quick to correct issue. We have spoken with John in the past. Kudos to the staff at the Atlantic City location. A special shout to Kevin, Leah, Lisa, John Najeerah and Fred! We returned the next day, 6/ 28/25 and was attended by Najeerah and her manager Fred. Even though she is new, Najeerah performed like a seasoned pro. She was professional, attentative and built a rapport with the patrons. Fred visited us to ask if our experience was satisfactory. Applebee's in every location and state we have visited has been exceptional.

8/15/25 Our latest visit to this location was OK. Mia was attentive and pleasant. We spoke with Mike, the manager about Mia's performance. We were a little disappointed to discover we was charged for a condiment. First, there was any seasonings (salt and pepper) or condiments (ketchup) on our table when we arrived. Second, we was offered A1 Sauce for our steaks and not informed of the additional charge. The amount is not the issue. Always inform your customer of additions to the bill.
