All I can say is perfection is not easy to achieve with everything, especially when you have all pro eaters like myself and my buddy. I've been itchin for some Ruth Chris, so, while in AC, I made the move. Not 1 regret. Our waitress, the host, and the manager made our visit there perfect. I recently retired from a NYC Agency and have been on a celebration kick. The waitress asked us at the very beginning of our meal, are you here for any occasion? And I was kinda caught off guard to have someone actually care about why we were there, so I told her "we both just retired, so, this is kind of a retirement getaway for a few days" We're 46 and 44 years old, so, she was surprised but, none the less, she had a plan for us. (We'll get back to that at the end) So, we ordered pretty much the same thing, Lobster Bisque for appetizer (OMG) and we decided to split the monster porterhouse for 2 with unbelievable Mashed garlic Potatoes which is one of their staples. We didn't order any drinks or wine, but, for your reference, they have a fantastic wine/food pairing they offer which are great deals,, CHECK IT OUT. And we both knew, after eating the porterhouse, Mashed and bisque, dessert would be unnecessary. So, the Bisque was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I personally love Lobster Bisque and I've had many over the years at different places. This Bisque took me back to when I was 21 and worked in Boggianos in Rockaway Beach, NY. They had FAMOUS lobster Bisque there. The one at Ruth Chris was absolutely on point and similar to the one I loved for so long and have missed all this time since Boggianos closed down. Next: Dinner. Michelle our waitress, who was one of the nicest and coolest people ever, brought our porterhouse for two at the perfect time. As she served it, she followed safety protocol and warned us about the 500° degree plates over and over, which I appreciate on a professional level. Buuut, yeah, I still burned myself cause I'm a dope (not serious whatsoever). Do yourself a favor, use one of the folded napkins and lay it over the side of the plate closest to you. Anyways, the plates were drenched in butter for dipping which I loved also. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection and left a steak taste in my mouth for an hour afterwards that made me want more, even though, I was so stuffed. We both finished our meal, well, what we could finish, packed up some leftover steak (almost 1/4 to 1/2 of the steak. It was huge) and we thought we were done for the meal, so, I committed to asking for the check the next time I saw her which was after the table had been cleared, when she asked us "would you guys like some dessert?" ......we just looked at each other and said "uhh we can't fit anymore food down our gullet, so, we'll pass on dessert" So, the next time I saw Michelle, I attempted to ask for the check and she was walking with 2 plates in her hand, before I could even ask, she said "okay guys, I spoke with my manager and told him you guys both just retired and since you guys were so nice, I wanted to do something for you, so, he authorized me to give you guys these. Congratulations to the both of you on your retirements" She placed 2 cheesecake a la modes on the table with chocolate and I think a raspberry or strawberry sauce that spelled out "Congratulations". Oh.....and that too was absolutely delicious.
So, to wrap up this long winded great review: DO NOT HESITATE to choose Ruth Chris Steakhouse AC the next time you're in the area if you're trying to decide which place and make a decision. You can never go wrong with Ruth Chris unless the service is poor, which was not the case here in AC. I honestly did not know what to expect here being that I go to one of the best locations in Tarrytown NY whenever I go and this Atlantic City location went above and beyond my expectations.
To the staff that helped us from the host all the way to the kitchen staff, especially our waitress Michelle and the manager, thank you guys so much for providing us a fantastic retirement celebration dinner and the insane level of...
Read moreOur server Gigi complimented the heck out of one of two beautiful women in our party. Made it awkward because the other woman looked gorgeous too and it was HER bday. She could’ve just said you ladies look beautiful. One of many a faux pas.
She complained about her wine opener. Rookie mistake. She did not offer us to taste the wine. She did not present the cork. She did not pour any wine after the first glass. We poured the whole bottle ourselves. No one refilled our water. We had to flag her down and ask. Twice. With empty glasses. Twice. We had to ask her to crumb our table because it was quite apparent she did not intend to.
She badmouthed one of the cocktails we wanted to try and endorsed another which cheapened the brand. The cocktails took forever. Both rounds. The food was not even sizzling. The employees let our food sit out for no exaggeration five minutes while they stupidly looked at each other until finally Gigi came over to serve the food. I also asked for extra butter and did not receive extra butter.
The busser had a nasty attitude and kept interrupting our conversation asking us to HAND HIM all of our plates!! We’re trying to enjoy a night out at a fine dining establishment and he’s asking us to do his job for him! He also tried to put 3 different sides in one container which is disgusting and lazy. He had a bad attitude and was also unprepared and kept running back and forth.
Our server also ruined the bday surprise. I put in the reservation bday dessert didn’t matter what. She then ruined it and asked about allergies to the bday dessert when we had ALREADY told her we had no allergies. She charged us for the crème brûlée and never brought out the complimentary dessert I stated in the reservation.
The food and drinks were delicious though. Although drinks inconsistent- the second round didn’t taste the same as the first. And they did decorate the table as I asked. And they did put our shopping bags behind the desk for us. But beyond that, service was just so subpar. I’ve had better service at Olive Garden. And for 4 people spending nearly $700 before tip, I find this inferior level of service completely unacceptable. We drove 2 hours to come here for what should’ve been a special night and felt so embarrassed for our guests we were trying to impress. Ruth would be ashamed. This team needs much more training in service.
Overall I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed. Our entire party was unhappy with the service but of course we did not complain at dinner time because we just wanted to enjoy our time together undisturbed. Management came over twice but we just smiled and nodded because again we did not want to cause a scene (bc with this huge list to complain about we would’ve gotten emotional and easily eaten up an hour complaining) but yeah I am deeply embarrassed and unhappy with what happened to my special...
Read moreI’m beyond disappointed with my visit to Ruth Chris Atlantic City. My husband and I dined in to celebrate his birthday. I included these details on our reservation. We celebrated his Birthday at this same restaurant two years ago. We had an incredible experience, and I thought it would be nice to surprise him with dinner. The host was incredibly kind. We were seated promptly, and she acknowledged my husband's lovely birthday. Our server, Jerard, was attentive and knowledgeable. He was great. He recommended a special three-course meal, which consists of salad, Tomahawk steak for two, and two sides with dessert. We advised Ribeye is our favorite cut, considering its juicer. He suggested if we like Ribeye, we would love the tomahawk steak! We decided to go with his recommendation. The food took really long to come out. Once the food arrived, a manager named Andre approached the table. He asked if we would like our steak cut, and we said yes. He craved the steak like an amateur. My husband and I love steak and have visited numerous steakhouses, Mastro’s, Morton’s, the Chart House, and Del Fresco, and I’ve never seen a steak cut so poorly! We expressed our concerns to the server, and he said he would have the manager visit us. The manager, Andre, approached the table and immediately asked what’s the problem?! As someone who has served in the customer service industry for over ten years, I would have expected a more empathetic and professional response. I explained to him that we were not pleased with the steak, which was extremely dry and carved in all different shapes and sizes and not cut against the grain. He immediately began arguing and suggested we have never had a quality steak, and then said we’ll; what do you want me to do about it? I explained that we have had a tomahawk before, and it’s usually craved against the grain and Isn’t this dry! He said well, you never had a steak here! I couldn’t believe how dismissive and inconsiderate he was. I didn’t want to ruin the evening, so we decided to make the best of it. He walked away from the table and said, “Sure.” After dinner concluded, I was expecting a birthday dessert. The server approached the table and said would you guys like coffee deserts? I communicated I thought deserts were included in the special. He said oh yeah, if you want it, I can get it? I was so upset at this point we just collected the bill and left! No happy birthday, no acknowledgment at all that we were here celebrating my husband's birthday. This was the absolute worst experience I’ve gotten better service at fast food...
