This event has not performed in months due to covid restrictions but are still selling tickets for "current shows" they know they are not going to perform & then at the last minute send an e-mail cancellation & offer a gift certificate . I made many attempts to contact this company via e-mail and phone , to no avail. Finally I called the hotel that the event are supposed to be held and told by the front desk there had not been a show there in months and won't be for a while. Why are they posting current events, selling out tickets then cancelling & giving Gift cert.
I send the this e-mail to Dinner Detective: What you are doing is fraud. You are allowing people to purchase tickets for shows that you know are not being performed due to the covid restrictions then you wait the week prior to to send an email offering a gift card. Good way to keep the money coming in. Shame on you.
Dinner Detective Response: ( Partial response) We have honored a refund request of everyone who asked, but most people understand the awful predicament we have been put in with the ever changing situation affecting the world and have accepted the gift certificate knowing we will back back as soon as we are able.(end of e-mail)
Reviewer Response: I am appalled that you use the pandemic as an excuse for unethical business practices. If people want to buy gift certificates for future shows when you resume is fine. But to have people believing that you are currently performing and then cancelling right before the show? What about those "people" who purchased tickets for a "special day". then have to try and make other arrangements because of your scheme. I was a victim of exactly that & I am sure there were many other victims. I've been a small business owner for over 20 years so I know the struggle to survive. I also have many friends who have small businesses in Baltimore City that are being affected however they do not use bait & switch to obtain monies to keep their businesses afloat. Again shame on you for taking advantage of the general public ....
Read moreI have been wanting to do a murder mystery dinner for a long time. I can’t say that I was impressed by the experience. They say they’re not like other MM shows because they don’t recite campy dialogue or have cheesy costumes. The entire “show” was two detectives and a few hidden audience performers whose acting skills where very cringeworthy. We were immediately able to pick out the murderer from the crowd as well as the hidden audience performers because they didn’t quite blend in.
The dinner was okay and what you would expect from a 3 star hotel banquet. However, we were told the only part of the meal that was not vegan were the appetizers. Dessert and the meal were supposed to be GF & Vegan. The dessert was cheesecake, not GF or vegan. Also, the bread rolls were not vegan; they were baked with butter.
In my opinion it was not worth $70 per person. I wouldn’t have paid more than $40. I gave it three stars, because the actors still worked hard and enjoyed themselves. It wasn’t the worst show I have ever been to, just highly overpriced for...
Read moreI took my daughter here for an early birthday gift. We'd been to a different dinner theater before and this one was far better! You could tell the actors enjoyed their job! They had lots of fun as they each performed their roles as detectives and "guests", which made it fun for us also. We were a bit confused at first as to how we were to interview each other, but eventually figured it out. Using a QR Code to get more clues along way during the evening was a fun way to learn more about the case. The food was amazing! We had a slight problem as they accidentally served something I was allergic too (despite prior notification), but they graciously gave me a fresh plate and I was very impressed with the meal; even the cheesecake . . . .without any toppings . . . was melt-in-your mouth wonderful! It was a great evening...
