⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the Best Dining Experiences We’ve Ever Had
I don’t usually write reviews—but our dinner at The Ruxton in Baltimore absolutely deserves one. From start to finish, the experience was not just delicious, but truly thoughtful and memorable.
I brought my son here for his birthday, and the moment we were seated, we noticed a handwritten birthday card waiting for him at the table. Let me tell you—this has never happened before. We’ve been to many top Michelin restaurants over the years to celebrate his birthday, but this was the first time we were greeted with such a personal and touching gesture. The message was so beautifully written, and whoever took the time to do that… thank you. I wish I knew your name, because I would shout you out here. It meant a lot to both of us, and you made our night extra special.
Our server, Dalia (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name), was exceptional—kind, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made us feel so well taken care of and answered all my questions about the different Wagyu options and how they’re sourced. When she didn’t have an answer, she went straight to the kitchen to ask—above and beyond service.
To our surprise, a few minutes later, Executive Chef Justin personally came out to our table, presenting a gorgeous cut of Wagyu and taking the time to explain everything in detail. He was gracious, passionate, and genuinely excited to share his knowledge. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it made such a lasting impression. You can feel the pride and care the entire team has for what they serve.
And now… the food! Where do I even begin?
The shrimp were massive—seriously, the size of your hand—and packed with flavor. The steak was perfection: perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The jalapeño cheddar grits were downright addictive—bold, creamy, and packed with just the right kick. And the mashed potatoes were smooth and flavorful without being overly rich—just balanced and perfect.
Every bite was excellent, including the sauces, which were clearly crafted by someone who knows what they are doing..
But whatever you do—do not skip dessert. Their butter cake was extraordinary. My son summed it up best when he said, “It’s like a warm hug in your mouth.” I couldn’t agree more. It’s easily one of my favorite desserts of all time. Also highly recommend the brownie it's a awesomely unique presentation and delicious...we might have overeaten hahaha.
This was one of the best meals and overall dining experiences I’ve ever had—hands down. The food, the service, the personal touches… everything was just right. I left feeling full, happy, and incredibly grateful.
To the entire team at The Ruxton: thank you for creating such a memorable evening. Special thanks to Dalia and Chef Justin, and to the person who wrote that card—you made a birthday feel extra meaningful.
We will absolutely be back. And when you open in National Harbor, we’ll be there to support you again.

Read moreI celebrated a belated birthday here, and I was so so excited to try. I tend to love atlas concepts so I was especially exited to try their steakhouse. I will start with what I liked. The place is beautiful, the decor is very nice. Our server was very attentive and they were very knowledgeable about the steaks, specials, and gladly answered any questions we had. The steak itself was of course delicious and it came out a perfect medium rare. The reason I took off two stars is a combination of things. First, the atmosphere was loud. I was expecting *ambiance * and a relaxed vibe. The restaurant was busy, and the amount of chatter created the noise level of a cafeteria. I am not sure if it’s the acoustics or what. I know the restaurant cannot help this but it definitely affected the experience, especially at such an expensive place. It wasn’t one person or table in particular, just a noisy dining room. Next, our server had somewhat of an attitude during one exchange. They came to the table and informed us the food would be out shortly. After they finished saying so, someone at the table asked about a drink they had ordered that seemed to be taking longer than expected (no big deal, he was just giving a reminder) and the server responded “yes, as I just said, it will be right out” in a bit of a snarky tone. We heard the server say the FOOD would be right out, but neither of us heard a drink mentioned. They were talking a bit fast so maybe we did miss them mention the drink, but either way, both me and the other guest were taken aback somewhat. It definitely changed the vibe at the table for a while after. I felt as if we had annoyed the server so I spent the rest of the meal feeling a little bad and also awkward. I was a server and bartender for over a decade so I always try to be an easy guest. Lastly, our sides came out several minutes after the steaks. Not a huge deal, but again when you are paying these high prices, you expect the food to be timed correctly. My mom got a smaller steak and was nearly finished with it by the time the sides came out. The steak was obviously delicious, however I have had better steak. I was expecting it to be one of the best steaks I had ever had, but it was an average, great steak. Still delicious, but didn’t blow me away. I also did not care for the ruxton martini, I liked the garnishes, but the flavor was not for me, I’m aware that these last two are more of a personal preference. We went to the bygone next door for cocktails after dinner and had a wonderful experience there.
All in all, I would go again, but I wish my birthday dinner had...

9'15'2024 Birthday Dinner My gf and I visited and were assisted by Patrick and Brian. They were absolutely amazing w menu item descriptions, and checking on us at the perfect time. Our table was visited by Roy (manager) who was very pleasant. He checked on us to make sure all was well. Boy was he wrong. All was GREAT!!
Collectively, we ordered. Cresent Farms Duck Breast: Cooked amazing. Perfect portion size, and well plated. Chicken Fried Maine Lobster Tails: Delicious flavoring, well plated, and plentiful. Amazing taste. Grilled Asparagus: Pretty good. Tasty. Truffles Hasselback Potato: Ahhhmazing !! Sooo good. Sliced perfectly for easy cutting, and devouring. A must try. The table bread was the best I've ever tasted. It was so soft, easy to slice, and warm. Absolutely delicious.
10'4'2024 Celebratory Dinner for Hubby My husband has met a few Career goals recently, and I wanted to spoil him a little. I surprised him w a visit here, and he was elated. We received magnificent service by Taylor and Stephanie. They both had great personalities. We ordered the following. Butternut Lobster Bisque: Perfecto. Amazing presentation, and taste. Chicken Fried Lobster Tails: Tasty, plentiful. 10oz Filet Mignon: Perfectly seasoned, and cooked. The mushroom sauce provided was a great flavorful addition. Grilled Asparagus: Well cooked. Truffled Hasselback Potato: Impressive portion size.
Overall, these two experiences are 12/10 regarding customer service. That includes the kind young men at valet. Very pleasant, respectful, and careful w vehicles.
I must admit, my food experience went from outstanding, to above average between the 2 visits. 8/10 The table bread wasn't as fresh as 1st visit. My Lobster Tails were oily on 2nd visit, Hasselback Potato was overcooked, and not sliced. It was just a big ole baked potato.
The differences weren't enough to keep me away, but highly noticeable. Impeccable customer service will bring me back for another time to see which experience will be most consistent.
Overall, this place is a neighborhood gem. I look forward to trying a few other entrées in the...
