After getting lost a couple of different times trying to locate the Brazilian Grill in Hyannis for a different lunch offering, then finding it, only to discover that the lunch pricing wasn't in effect due to the holiday, leaving in frustration and empty stomachs rumbling, we remembered a highly recommended Italian Cafe called Colombos Cafe and Pastries.......get lost and frustrated more often, if it means finding this little gem.....my companions and I were seated promptly at an outside table on a balmy overcast afternoon, Sinatra's "Witchcraft" wafting on the breeze After the few other places we experienced previously in the week, and being somewhat disappointed by them, we weren't expecting much, but hoping for better.....the menu is diverse with some lovely and unexpected additions....we ordered seafood stuffed mushrooms, sauteed calamari in a tomato cream sauce and New England Clam Chowder for our appetisers....one bite and we were hooked....everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautfully and left us wanting more.....our entrees included the linguini with white clam sauce, chicken parm and veal parm......WOW!!!!!.......the marinara was exquisite; so fresh and rich; meats were tender and juicy and portions were extremely generous.....every single wonderful mouthful was an invitation to another....however, portions were too large to be able to finish even half of what was served.....for dessert we opted for the Tiramisu, but as it is prepared fresh daily right down to the fresh baked lady fingers, it was unavailable for lunch....we decided on the cheesecake instead and were not disappointed with either selection....yum yum....they were delicious.....Adam, our server, was professional, well versed in the menu, and and very friendly and attentive......this is a true New York City style Italian gem amid the all-too-predictable seafood restaurants, and over priced cafes....darlings, if you do anything while in Cape Cod, do yourself a favor and stop by this diamond....we were all, as Frank put it so...
Read moreThis has been the worst customer service I’ve received. It started with the online system and trying to place an order. You have to register for an account then confirm your email. After going through that and trying to place my order the site is not working. So I call and attempt to place an order over the phone. The person working to go could barely understand me and was having computer issues. It took her 5 minutes to input a salad, to which she responded, is that it? I said no I would like to order for 4 people. Then I ordered one pasta dish and after a very hard time of her understanding me I said we will just come in. Is there a wait for a table and she said no just come in. Never offered to take my name for a table so I trusted her on her word. We arrive at the restaurant with adults and two kids in tow. Get to the hostess stand and I explained what happened and the hostess said well there’s a 50 minute wait. We decided to try to place a to go order again and have been sitting in our car for 45 minutes after they told us it would take 20 minutes. We just walked in to pick up the order and the person forgot to make our pizza and was visibly annoyed that we asked where it was. They were out of the dessert that their online system allowed us to order and threw something else in a box instead never offering to credit us. Now it’s been one hour and we have a partial order and no dessert. Waiting for our pizza. I understand that the service industry can be tough. I worked in that for many years. But no one has offered to compensate us no one asked for a manager and we have experienced awful customer service. If the restaurant is that busy they either need more people or component people. We are still sitting in the car with two kinds under the age of 5.
Update. This journey began at 6:30pm and we just got home to eat after 8pm. Our food was cold and there was a hair...
Read moreI visited Colombo’s Café last week with my family to enjoy some drinks at their outdoor bar. At first, everything seemed great; the service was friendly and attentive.
However, during our visit, something extremely disturbing happened. While my mom and I stepped away to shop, my dad remained at the bar. He overheard a man; who appeared to be associated with the café, possibly even the owner, though he wasn’t working at the time, making incredibly vulgar and inappropriate comments about the young women working as servers and bartenders. These remarks were sexual in nature and deeply disrespectful.
My dad was stunned and understandably upset, especially as the father of a young adult daughter. He asked a staff member if that individual was regularly present, and instead of responding, she gave him a look and walked away; which only added to our concern.
After hearing what happened, my mom and I were disgusted. It’s alarming to think that someone connected to this establishment would speak that way about employees, especially in a public setting. While I can’t confirm whether the man is the owner, I’ve since come across reviews from former employees describing similar experiences, which makes this even more troubling.
And as a small aside to any of the women working there: It is NOT your fault. I’m sure there are plenty of other businesses around that would love to have you work there. Wishing you all strength to get through this. ❤️
TL;DR: Someone affiliated with this café (possibly the owner, though not on the clock at the time) was overheard making explicit and inappropriate sexual comments about the young female staff. This behavior is unacceptable and deeply concerning. I strongly recommend avoiding this place.
EDIT: I am not associated with any employees or former employees of this establishment. I am a tourist who...
