I visited Tumi on Saturday March 22nd, 2025. It was an overcast and dreary day when we went. We arrived there around 1:30 p.m. and found the restaurant a little tricky to locate. Once we did, we were surprised to find the restaurant empty of customers. We debated whether we should go in or not and, in the end, decided to take a chance.
The restaurant was very nice and inviting inside and we had a fine table to view, look at and admire all the décor covering the walls. We ended up trying 2 different appetizers; the Andean Octopus (Wood grilled Spanish octopus, cucumber aioli sauce (Peruvian sauce), roasted potatoes, arugula onion salad) and the Mixto Ceviche (Shrimp, fish of the day, octopus, mussels, fresh lime juice, onions, fried yucca).
The Andean Octopus was fantastic, and the Mixto Ceviche was out of the world delicious. The Octopus was cooked perfectly and was so tender with delicious flavor. The Ceviche was the best Ceviche I have had in many years. It was as fresh as possible, and the serving size was certainly plenty. They do not skimp on portion size here.
For Entrees we ordered the Peruvian Paella (Shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, ½ wood grilled lobster tail, calamari, Jazmin rice, aji panca, red bell pepper) and the Lamb Osso Bucco (Peruvian style, braised lamb shank with aji amarillo, Peruvian beer, vegetables, cilantro, served with shiitake mushrooms risotto, white kidney beans).
The rice in the Paella had a wonderful light flavor to it and was cooked perfectly. It had plenty of seafood in it for an individual. I have to say the clams were pretty good size and were probably the best clam I’ve ever eaten. The Lamb Osso Bucco was also the best I’ve ever had. The lamb was braised perfectly, and the meat just fell off the bone. The sauce it was in was delicious as well. The shitake mushroom risotto was creamy, delicious and cooked perfectly.
For dessert we ordered the Panna Cotta ((Egg-less-custard) Madagascar Vanilla bean, milk, cream, gelatin) and the Homemade Ice Cream of the day which was passionfruit (a favorite flavor of mine). The Panna Cotta was light and creamy and came with a strawberry and a little bit of strawberry gelee. The Passionfruit Ice Cream was very delicious, and the two scoops were more than enough for dessert.
Overall, we had a very nice experience at Tumi and look forward to going again for sure. We are curious what the place looks like at nighttime with the lights on inside. Overall I give...
Read moreAll four of us enjoyed our lunch today at TUMI CEVICHE BAR & RISTORANTE very much. First, the location is a bit hard to find, behind Main Street shops; there was a tent sign placed on the sidewalk to direct us down the alley to the entrance. We were warmly greeted by our beautiful server, Sandra, who quickly brought us an amuse bouche of bruschetta that we all agreed was fresh and delicious.
The menu here is very diverse with something for every taste. It features some enticing Italian and some Peruvian dishes not found elsewhere. My wife ordered two Peruvian Empanadas ($12.99) filled with chicken. They were large and flakey with a delicious flavor accented with "Peruvian spices"; not sure what they were exactly, but not spicy, just delicious! I opted for a creamy Fettuccine Huancayna($17.99) with pancetta. The pasta was homemade and cooked al dente, as it should be. A generous bowl which gave me leftovers for later. I should also praise the spinach salad I ordered for my first course. Served with mushrooms, sun-dried cranberries, and artichokes, it came dressed with a creamy white balsamic dressing. Sandra had no problem getting me the half size salad I wanted, since I needed to save room for my entree. Our friends were delighted with their choices, too. She got the highly recommended Mixto Ceviche($16.99) with some large shrimp, while he savored six fresh Oysters Florentine($16.99) served over fresh greens, with a side of Street Corn($8.99).
Tumi Ceviche has so many tempting offerings on their menu that we plan on returning soon to enjoy their reasonable prices and comfortable atmosphere. There's a full bar, too. Watch for their sidewalk sign, across the street from the...
Read moreWent here due to previous reviews and the number of available gluten free options. We were seated fairly promptly despite being a few minutes early for our reservation. Our server came over timely, answered some questions as we clarified gf options and then disappeared for a bit. We put our order in for 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. Well, 40 minutes later we still hadn't seen any food or the waitress ... We noticed the table that came in 15-20 minutes after us did get their food! Waitress finally came by and said the food should be right out, and 30 seconds later it was, but it wasn't ours! We reminded the waitress of our order and we still hadn't received appetizers! Finally, 5 minutes later the apps appeared, then a few minutes later the entrees. While the chicken in the Ani sauce was decent, the rice was off, tasting like it may have been reheated... The rice with the paella was much better, but the paella was just ok. We did inform our waitress of the issue and then we believe perhaps the manager came over? She apologized for everything and at the end end of the meal tried to give us a tiramusu, and while a nice gesture apparently it wasn't conveyed to her about the 2 in our party with a gluten allergy. The manager then brought over the bill and said she had comped one of the chicken dishes and the pisco sour. Again, a nice gesture, but too late. I cannot recommend this place... You are better off spending your money down the...
