I brought my family of 8 in to eat a late lunch. After looking at the menu in the restaurant, it is different than it is online because a lot of items were crossed off with a sharpie. We were never explained why. When we ordered our food, we were then told there was no fried chicken and everything was substituted with chicken breast. We thought there was a missed shipment of chicken or something. After waiting what seemed an extremely long time for the food to be ready, (there were only 2 other tables of 2 in the whole restaurant) the food was below what was expected at a tourist resort. It was low grade bar food quality. $18 for a few slices of lunch meat and then call it a Turkey Club? Anything already included on a normal burger anywhere else is actually $2.00 more, like a slice of cheese! We were starving and ate what we ordered anyway. We then had to flag down the waitress to ask for the bill. She kept walking past and didnāt stop to engage. Our final bill had a 20% gratuity already applied. I asked if we could have that removed so we could choose our own tip amount based on the service we received. A manager, I guess, came over to ask what was wrong. She didnāt identify herself as the manager but was very pushy and seemed to feel insulted that we didnāt like our service. We told her that the experience was not welcoming and we didnāt feel attended to. A lot of menu items were reconfigured based on how they wanted to stock food this time of year. (Not our problem or choice as a customer) We werenāt told when our food was going to come out or be ready. We were about to get up and walk out because there were no employees to talk to or ask about our food being ready. She said the gratuity is automatically applied and thereās nothing she can do. She didnāt seem to care or listen to us anymore even though we were giving her valuable feedback to help improve the experience for the next family that comes in. I guess weāre entitled to be taken because weāre tourists in a tourist town like she said. Looking at the rest of the reviews, it doesnāt look like The Dusty Boot replies to good or bad reviews so I hope the next family thinks twice before dining here. I guess the couple of bucks she felt entitled to was worth this bad review, ruining our moment at her restaurant, and feeling like she can push us around. Service was absolutely impeccable, quick and professional and none of our orders were messed up - there were 5 of us. Food was very decent, but, frankly, at the price range, I would expect more flavor and better quality meats. While burgers were good, the dinner salad was just ok and steak added to it was a very cheap cut with virtually no flavors and hard to chew. Prices were higher than I'd like, but expected, for the location. Still, a salad priced comparable to a steak is not right.
What I wasn't too impressed with, aside from what I already mentioned, was the 3% cc fee - for the price range, location and semi-upscale type of the establishment, they could have eaten the cost. Or add this to the price of food - at their prices, it wouldn't be too noticeable. Not sure how many guests there carry enough cash to cover the dinner prices. Also, the mentioning of "we reserve the right to add 20% gratuity to any check" is a new level of entitlement. To their benefit, nothing extra was added to our check, but this practice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here, but just a really bad experience due to terrible service. Took forever to order drinks, and then when he brought drinks mine never came. After my table was half done with theirs I finally got impatient and tracked him down to ask where mine was.. he apparently didn't hear me order anything?? (even though he asked what kind of champagne I wanted..) ..took forever to get that then. Meals came out fine, and after sitting at the table for at least 10 or 15 minutes and our waiter no where to be seen, we finally asked a waitress if she could get out bills. She did and "ran the cards." ....our card came back with just the original bill - no receipt with the line to tip/sign so we had to track them down and ask them to give us a real receipt.. just a mess that took FOREVER. For how expensive this place was, I wouldn't expect to be getting worse service than a fast food restaurant. It was awful. And no apologies, discounts, or anything. Probably won't try this...
