I’m not sure how this place has a 4.9 rating at all. I recently went here with my boyfriend for a quick meal after visiting Big Bear for the day. It was not only empty (on a weekend) but the floor was insanely dirty. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but have limited options for each section. We ordered two drinks, a breakfast sandwich with extra cheese and the dinner country fried steak with sides of mashed potatoes and seasoned fries, and one order of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were alright- I wouldn’t order them again- but it was the best thing compared to everything else. The fried steak was deplorable and my boyfriend barely ate it because it looked, and tasted, like an unseasoned hamburger patty made with store bought gravy. I tried the gravy and it was flavorless and almost like jelly. My breakfast sandwich tasted like someone made it at home and not in a good way (they even burned the bread). For a $20 steak dinner and a $16 sandwich I would expect more than what was delivered to us. Our server was nice and attentive but she gave us the check without asking and while we were still eating which bothered me because most of the restaurant was empty so it’s not like they needed a table. Overall, I would not go back and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. We were weary to try it because it was so empty while other restaurants were packed, but they accepted Apple Pay which...
Read moreIt was simply awful. My wife and I ordered our breakfast and were quite hungry. We ordered the French toast breakfast, which includes two eggs, hash browns, two bacon strips, and two sausage links for $16.99. For the first time in my life, I saw food that was supposed to be hot served cold. Guys, this is unacceptable. I waited for the waitress and asked if she could at least heat it up in the microwave for us, to which she replied, “Yes, yes, one second,” and walked away. After waiting 15 minutes, we just ate the cold dishes. When we received the check, we approached the cashier to pay for our breakfast. The girl at the register was very rude to the customer in front of me. When the customer paid, she exclaimed in surprise, “This is madness! No tip?” I always leave a tip if the food was at least tasty, even if the service wasn’t great. If it’s edible, I’ll leave a tip. But here, it was a matter of principle. This lady put the man in an uncomfortable position just because he didn’t leave a tip. For your information, it’s everyone’s choice whether to leave you a tip or not. You cannot attack people who don’t tip you, especially with such kitchen and service. When I approached to pay, she exclaimed, “My God, this is madness!” At that point, we just turned around and left. You don’t deserve tips with such service and...
Read moreIt was my fiancé’s first time here, we were actually gonna go to the grizzly Manor café next-door, but we underestimate how small it actually was and there was a line so we decided to come here to Benny’s family restaurant and that was such a great decision. And got the bananas, strawberry smoothie, it was really good. Our food was delicious. We had a wonderful server, her name is Debbie. She had such a kind and fun personality. Sitting next to us was a table that had kids and she went to the back and put a stuff animal on her shoulder, and it was Remy, and that Remy was cooking their food in the kitchen. (Remy is a character rat who cooks in the kitchen from a Disney movie called “ratatouille”) so it was nice seeing her have fun with the kids. We loved her personality. The atmosphere was nice. There were a couple tables that were taken, but overall a lot of empty seats, but our server informed us that they had only been open for four months and honestly, the place is really good. Eventually, we saw groups of people start coming into the restaurant, and either they were coming here first or Bennys is picking up customers that aren’t able to get seats at the grizzling Manor, which is really good for business . But overall, the food was really good and can’t wait to come back next time to...
