Chances were good your favorite pub was the one you could walk (stumble) to from home. Service and friendliness were important.
This place has all of that going for it. No chique ambience. No kitchen. Just a well stocked bar served as "wedding drinks"; my reference to every open bar you've ever been to at an event where they pour your first one as a cocktail, then the rest are half hooch-half mixer. So... be careful here, especially if you're driving.
