I have been begging my husband to come here for breakfast since they relocated into the old Flatbread venue. I really wanted beignets this morning so I dragged my hubby here for breakfast.
Walking in, I fell in love with the vibe and the decor of Moon's. The music was jammin, servers hustling to their tables and guests enjoying their Monday morning. Adrianna who was making drinks for her table at the espresso machine greeted us. She needed a minute to get her drinks done. No problem!
Adrianna sat us and gave us a minute to look over the menu for food and drinks. We started off with a hazelnut mocha and a huckleberry lemonade. The huckleberry lemonade was so so so good! My hazelnut mocha had the perfect balance of espresso, hazelnut and chocolate. The most delicious mocha. When drinks were being dropped off, Adrianna broke our hearts and told us the that fryer was out. No country fried steak and no beignets. Which was a complete bummer since we wanted the beignets and my husband wanted to the chicken fried steak. So, we didn't get the beignets for obvious reasons and the husband had to go with plan B for breakfast.
I got the John Wayne breakfast and my husband got the Monte Cristo. My plate was fabulous! My eggs, hashbrowns and bacon were cooked perfectly! The biscuits and gravy were fantastic! I appreciate that the biscuit wasn't huge and dense. I know bigger is better but not when it comes to biscuits. These biscuits were perfect in size and density. The gravy on top was thick and peppery. It was all so good! Of course I had a couple bites of my husband's Monte Cristo. You literally had to unhinged your jaw to bite into that thick breakfast sandwich. It was so good! I enjoyed the savory of the ham with the sweet of the powered sugar and raspberry jam. The raspberry jam was killer. The Monte Cristo was a win!
I'm so happy I dragged my husband here for breakfast. The music was going, Adrianna did a epic job taking care of us, the venue is dope and the portions were huge. You can't beat a great visit like today! Even though we didn't get our beignets today, I look first l forward to going back...

I’ve been to Moon’s many times over the years (It is my good to place downtown), and it never disappoints. The service? Attentive and warm. The atmosphere? Bright, beautifully decorated, and cozy enough to make you want to linger just a little longer over your coffee.
Normally, I stick with the tried-and-true—eggs Benedict or those crave-worthy crêpes—but on this visit, I finally took the plunge and ordered the vegetable omelet. Now, I’ve recently sworn off pork, so I was curious how a meat-free omelet would stack up. Well, let me tell you... OH. MY. OMELET. It was packed to the brim with sautéed yellow squash, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and melty cheese—fluffy eggs hugging all that veggie goodness like a warm culinary hug. Absolute perfection on a plate.
My mom ordered her favorite: the classic eggs Benedict, and she was equally impressed. Perfectly poached eggs, a deliciously smooth hollandaise sauce, and everything cooked just right. We were two very happy breakfast campers. And here’s the fun twist: after watching me rave about my omelet (and maybe hearing me mention it once or ten times), my mom went home and tried to recreate it herself! That’s how good it was—it sparked a kitchen experiment.
Their newer location in downtown Boise is a total win—modern, welcoming, and comfortable. Whether you're out for a brunch date, a breakfast with family, or catching up with colleagues, Moon’s Kitchen Café is a must-visit spot. Trust me, once you’ve been, you’ll start looking for excuses to go back.

Read moreSo lets try something new, my friends say.....So we decided to take our collectively huge families to Moon's for lunch. Now I understand the sight of 7 elementary aged kids and their 4 parents walking through the door of your diner might be shocking, but to express that with looks of disdain and contempt is purely unacceptable. That's right, 2 of the 3 waitresses greeted our entrance with eye-daggers and icicles that said loud and clear "how dare you bring your flock of crumb grabbers in to our sanctuary of poor service and laziness". After fighting off the urge to run, we decided to stay and see if things got better. Our waitress (I forgot her name but she was NOT one of the ice-queens) was great. She was happy, singing along to the music that was playing over the speakers, and very welcoming (even with her obvious leg injury that was causing her to limp around). She was prompt with our order taking, and aside from a mix-up with the fries (plate swapping at the table was a little unorthodox but OK by me) the food delivery time was acceptable. The food was.....AMAZING !!!!! That, and the personal service was the redemption our experience needed. So after reading the reviews, I see that I am not the only one who has endured poor quality customer service, and I likely won't be the last. So HOPEFULLY ....the owner/manager of Moon's actually reads these reviews and takes corrective action to salvage their reputation (unless she was one of the...
