I don't like leaving poor reviews, but this one HAD to be left, we had family & friends that flew in from North Carolina to help celebrate the holidays, we went out for a Sunday night dinner, which is to be followed by cocktails, so here goes.....We walked into the Whiskey Bar downtown Boise, all happy & ready to drink. The Whiskey Bar only had 1 person sitting at the bar enjoying a Jimmy Johns sandwich & a bottle of beer watching the 49ers play the Bills, I'm sure it was the doorman. We grabbed a spot at the bar, started asking a few questions about Whiskey's, the bartender was extremely annoyed, didn't want to make drinks, she was more interested in talking with the doorman than to take care of the 8 of us. We ordered 2 Larceny whiskeys-neat, a Penicillin, a $3 Summer Dress, her comment was, "well you are going to make me get everything out." We ignored that, as she continued watching the football game and talking to the doorman, yelling at the game on the screen instead of our party. A couple of us even tried to engage in conversation with her, asking her about herself, she has worked there 9 years which is really hard to believe given the extremely poor service we received. She short poured every drink, she missed the glass on both mixed cocktails with several ingredients all while trying to watch a game and swearing at the t.v. The service was by far the worst any of us have ever received, we left her a small tip, which she didn't deserve, she picked up the receipt, scoffed at it, walked down to her doorman friend and gave us a dirty look, in front of all of us....We left due to the rude service, went to Pengilly's Saloon, spent the night drinking & dancing. I would stay as far away from the Whiskey Bar as possible after...
Read moreWent here on June 24th 2017 during the Pedals and Pints tour. Showed up early evening and the place was slow for a Saturday but with the Music Fest in town it's always a lot less busy downtown. Atmosphere is awesome and the bar topped with pre prohibition whiskey label prints adds a nice touch. Ordered the Whiskey Sour the way the bartender recommended though I was a little nervous about the two egg whites I watched him drop in. Upon receiving the finished drink it was almost too good looking to drink lol. Nonsense though and as I consumed it I was amazed. Even as he was making the drink another gentleman at the bar was raving about it. I was not disappointed. Truthfully the only negative to this experience is that I will now travel the rest of my days judjing all whiskey sours to the standard set by this one, glorious drink. Even throughout the night, as the group and I continued our tour to other destinations, I was reminded numerous times why all other whiskey sours shall tremble in it's presence....For real though....a...
Read moreThe place is really cool. Centrally located in downtown Boise. Lots of other bars around it. Street side parking. No food that I am aware of. Dim lights. They have a big screen TV in the middle of bar. It can get packed on the weekends, especially since silly birch is next door. They have a great selection of whiskey. The only reason I took a star off is because their service is absolutely terrible. They don't have table service so you have to go to bar to get your drink, and you'll stand there for litterally ever. Even if your sitting at the bar, it can easily be 10 minute before your served. With that being said. The drinks are always great and the bar tenders are super nice;...
