Jimmie's — Restaurant in Cleburne

The food is really really good! But make sure you have plenty of time because everything is slow. For a place that charges in the neighborhood of $50 and up per entree, the service is nowhere near par to competitors. Jimmie needs to spend some time training staff and waiters. Was seated with just silverware and napkins dropped off. Almost ten minutes later a waiter comes by and asks if we would like something to drink. We said water would be good to start and please bring a wine list and menu. She said it’s all online without telling us where online. Comes back with waters and we get the online menu after she tells us and she goes away. 15 minutes later she drops back by asking if we are ready to order. Was hoping to get some drinks first but anyways….we order wine and dinner with the waiter being unsure about available sides which are not listed on menu. Food arrives and it is really good. We finish our dinner entree and the waiter brings an iPad with our bill. Empty dirty plates are still on table and she hands me the iPad telling me the final bill amount. We said “maybe a dessert possibly?” and she said no desserts are available tonight. Ok…..I pay on the iPad and we are done. Bottom line….real good food, but work on improving service, train waiters and consider adding desserts and maybe some bread or something to start? Improve the overall experience and I’ll consider coming back. But otherwise there are plenty of other great places with much better service. And by the way, this was NOT isolated to us. Unorganized, Unprepared - Unacceptable I went to Jimmie's on New Year's Eve (7:00 seating) to celebrate with three others. We made our menu selection on line 5 days prior. The reservation was accepted. It didn't go well. We arrived early but were all left standing by the door waiting for one table of guests from the 5:00 seating to leave which was sometime after 7:00. We were finally seated about 7:15. The restaurant was crowded but there were empty tables. After 10 minutes someone came by and filled two water glasses and then disappeared. We had to ask to have the other glasses filled. We order drinks. The salad arrived in very small bowls. The meatball appetizers (which were good) were served in tiny plastic fruit cups. Strange. After 30 minutes, we asked about our drinks and were told that they had forgotten about them. When they brought them out, the wine was a very uneven pour using two different shaped glasses. We were among the last to be served our food. Two of us ordered tuna steak. We were served sea bass with no explanation. We asked the waitress about it and the owner came out and told us that they didn't have the tuna. We ordered in advance, obviously they gave our meal to someone else. The owner offered other options but we didn't want to wait another twenty minutes since our companions had already received their meals. Finally, the menu stated that there was a selection of desserts included in the price. The waitress told us that only banana pudding was available. All of us declined save one. And, they ran out of Pinot Noir. We were offered no compensation for any of this. Poor...

Our waitress has been incredible every time we've had dinner there. I wish I could remember her name because she transforms the menu into an experience. She completely knows the menu and wine pairings and has been so helpful helping us decide which wines and sides would pair the best.

Jimmie's is amazing! We had seared tuna in a giant salad as an appetizer along with the most amazing grilled lamb ribs with an amazing glaze.

Next, I had baked halibut and my bf had the tomahawk with a garlic butter. His was a perfect medium. My halibut was cooked perfectly. Last time I had the seabass with truffle butter and it was the best fish I've ever had. I'd highly recommend that. Seriously incredible.

We stayed for cake the first time from Moms kitchen which is inside Jimmie's and this time took cake to go. My daughter and friend ate it so fast because it is absolutely delicious. I had white cake with chocolate frosting last time and it was the best cake I've ever had!

Edited to add: NYE here was the absolute best! Drinks and atmosphere are amazing. We got there at 9pm and welcomed the New Year with Jimmie and his beautiful wife Amanda. We had some light bites and as always the food is heavenly. Guests are treated like family and we've always been met by Jimmie every single time we've been there. This time was no exception and we can't wait to go back! We hope to spend next NYE there because all the guests were so much fun and we had a blast! Visit this hidden gem and you will not be...
