They let me order inside after driving 25 minutes to the location while I was trying to order via toast, but it wouldn't let me and when I called they told me no phone orders (this is for the person who said they couldn't order in their review - try again!).
I ordered the Reuben with Truffle Fries. Loved it! Amazing flavor. I wish there was more "meat" and cheese to balance out the sauerkraut, but, it was really good. Toasted rye bread. Truffle flavor wasn't overpowering in the fries - but it's not my favorite fry type. 8.2/10
Side order of Brussels were good too. Lots of sweet sticky sauce. I tossed some cayenne on them with a squeeze of lemon to break up that sweetness a little bit. I ate a forkful of fries with a brussel and talk about implosion of flavors. 8.8/10
Birria Tacos and Consomme was probably my least favorite thing I ordered and I thought they'd be the best. That consomme is bland. Bland. No salt. Not even a pinch. None. Once I added salt to it, it was much better, but I don't want to have to do that, as a patron. Season the consomme. I wanted, NEEDED, (and maybe it's bc I'm from Texas).. I needed a side of onion and cilantro, there was not enough to impact the flavor of the taco, on the taco. Birria always comes with extra. Also, 3 tacos, I don't need 1 seared lime, it's cute, but, gimme 3 lime slices - 1 per taco.
Finally, half cup of consomme is not enough. It's a 4-oz cup, with 2-oz of consomme and I understand you give us the bug cup bc I'm dipping the taco, but, more consomme, also please. 6.1/10 (I had to chop my own onion, cilantro, limes - extra 1/2 pt for the pickled onions).
Overall Score 7.7/10 - Great vegan food! I can't wait to go back and try other stuff. Also, saw they have a rotating menu, which is what I used to do with my pop up shop in Texas so I am 1000% jazzed to try more of what The Joint has to offer.
I've tried vegan food all over Colorado since I've been here. The Joint is by far the best. By far. A few tweaks would take them outside the stratosphere.
PS. I didn't take photos. I just ate the food. That's how you. KNOW it was quite...
Read moreNone of their ordering options work well. Either items are missing online or there's no one to contact when you have an order issue. Today, we had a delivery that did not come for 2 hours past the delivery time. We ordered through toast, who said the order was fulfilled with Uber. Had no way to contact anyone at first and finally got a hold of the driver who said they got in an accident and were not delivering the itme and they would contact door dash (thought it was uber??). Now we have to rely on that driver to contact whichever company they're with to get our refund, which is an unreliable method. Wanted to contact the restaurant to possibly have new food made that we could just pick up or to get the order if it was still at the restaurant but there's no possible way to accomplish this because you cant call the restaurant. The number on the toast order status page never answers, and they don't provide a phone number for their restaurant anywhere else. I'm not going to order more food that I'm possibly going to have to either wait a long time to get or end up having to figure out getting refunded for the same issue. It's ridiculous how difficult this has been. Not to mention that when we have gotten food here, the quality of the food is very inconsistent, particularly the sandwhiches and tacos not being as good as other times when we have had it the same thing. A lot of the food is overly greasy/oily. We ordered the tiramisu, which they dont offer on door dash, so we had to order through toast who evidently fulfilled the order through Door Dash anyway? Get it together. Extremely dissappoinnted with their lack of taking care of...
Read moreRoasted Brussels sprouts... a dish that, in the wrong hands, can be a soggy, sad affair. But in the culinary haven that is The Joint, nestled within the bustling Avenue 19, they are nothing short of a revelation. This isn't just a side dish; it's a star, a testament to what happens when simple ingredients are given the respect they deserve. From the moment the plate arrives, the aroma alone is enough to make you weak at the knees. A rich, nutty, almost-sweet scent of perfectly caramelized brussels sprouts, kissed by the heat of the oven, mingles with something tangy and savory. The sprouts themselves are a masterpiece of texture. The outer leaves are impossibly crispy, shattering with a satisfying crunch, while the insides remain tender and full of that earthy, classic brussels sprout flavor. But what truly elevates these from "great" to "best in Colorado Springs" is the magical glaze. It's a symphony of flavors—the maple miso glaze....ugh....a surprising, bright flavor palette that cuts through the richness. It's the perfect counterpoint to the bitterness of the sprout, creating a balance that keeps you coming back for another bite, and then another, until the plate is, regrettably, clean. The Joint at Avenue 19 has proven that they're more than just a place to grab a meal; they're a destination for a food experience. This simple vegetable, so often overlooked, is here celebrated in all its glory. If you're looking for a dish that will change your mind about brussels sprouts forever, look no further. This is it. The picture is...
