As copper home owners and frequent visitors to downhill dukes, I am not a person to leave a poor review lightly as copper and everything at copper means the world to us and I do not take lightly the impact it has on the restaurant especially during times where challenges with hiring and service personnel are very present. What we experienced today was absolutely unacceptable. My husband met me for lunch at downhill dukes as we were switching out who was caring for our young toddler and who was getting to go skiing. We spent 30 minutes as it is down pouring snow on us waiting for a kids cheeseburger meal and chicken wings order. Our kid is losing his mind and we had to make the tough call to leave even though we don’t want to leave our waitress high and dry with our order. We also don’t want the people around us to have a poor experience because our food is taking too long and they have to listen to a toddler screaming . And I hate to say this but even before Covid there was a Friday where we waited 1 hour for an order of nachos to come out. This place just doesn’t have their stuff together. We love their food and their nachos and out of the past 5 times we’ve been there 2/5 times have been miserable. Even the time we came without kids was miserable. No one wants to skip out on 1.5 hours of skiing to wait on an order of nachos. And honestly every restaurant I’ve ever been to (ski resort or not) prioritizes kids meals before adult meals to avoid these type of situations. However when the waitress saw us at our wits end with our toddler after 30 minutes of waiting for our food in the freezing cold told us she suggests we stay and eat our food that she brought out…. Because it’s Saturday and everywhere is busy on a Saturday. Excuse me… no… not the case. We’ve eaten at ten mile tavern 10 times in the past 2 years and never had to wait more than 15 minutes for our food at peak season lunch time. This is not a crowd issue this is a specific down hill dukes issue and needs to be resolved. And the crew needs to be more trained to handle situations like this. How about a warning when you seat a party saying your meal may take 20-40 minutes to deliver are you prepared to wait?
Sad to say I will never go back to downhill dukes after many years of it being a staple in our copper mountain routine. I’d rather give business to the eagle BBQ or some other local spots ready to prioritize people coming...
Read moreI have been rating for years and I never have rated service horrible until now. It wasn't even the waitress either (she was good) However, we got there 45 minutes before last call. We ordered 2 beers for us and fries and pretzel bites for the kids (it was fine bar food) That's it. It came out with 15 minutes to spare...so far no issue. However we didn't get any plates for the kids. No problem except our waitress was busy and after waiting a few minutes we ask another waiter SITTING down at an empty table. He said sure and didnt move. Literally it was uncomfortable that he just blatantly disregarded the request for minutes (he was in his late 20s or early 30s ,long hair). Our waitress finally came over and got the plates. Then last call came and they rang a bell and the servers cheered...yes they did that. By the way, there were at least 6 to 7 tables of people. But then the worst part. The bus boy (young, clean cut) stood right next to us and would grab things off our table when he thought we were done. At one point he grabbed my wife's half full can of beer. This went on for over 5 minutes straight. I was shocked by how horrible this place treated us and frankly we are pretty easy going with requests and cleaning up our own mess.
In case management sees this we went Saturday August 5th...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but my experience at Downhill Duke’s was so appalling that I feel compelled to share. From the moment we walked in, the service was subpar. We were greeted with indifference and left waiting for an absurdly long time before anyone acknowledged us. Once we were seated, it only got worse. Our server seemed overwhelmed and uninterested in helping us. We had to flag them down multiple times just to place our order, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold and poorly prepared. To make matters worse, the staff was incredibly rude. They showed a nonchalant attitude when we asked for a simple substitution and acted as if our presence was an inconvenience to the staff. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially when you are dining with family and friend at a place annually visited in December. The atmosphere was chaotic, with loud noises from the kitchen and an overall lack of organization between the staff. It felt more like McDonalds than a proper restaurant. After enduring bad service and mediocre food, we decided to leave without even finishing our meal. I will never return to Downhill Duke’s and strongly advise others to think twice before choosing this place. Save your time and money for a restaurant that values...
