Banks Food Hall is an awesome addition to Uptown Columbus. Currently featuring 5 vendors (Fountain City Bakeshop, Poke Sun El Primo Taqueria, Jeremiah's Gelato, and Maltitude bar), Banks has something for everyone!
We tried 2/5 offerings: Fountain City Bakeshop serves up offerings similar to their Broadway location, with an emphasis on familiar and new baked goods, freshly brewed coffee, and similar items. The Poke place was good; their food is fresh and flavorful.
The atmosphere is what really makes Banks special. Food can be enjoyed in either indoor or outdoor seating areas, which are spacious and plentiful. The proximity to the Chattahoochee River and it's offerings makes for a cool place to have some dowtime between river activities.
Our main concern is competition -- with similar and more familiar offering located nearly blocks away (Fountain City's main location, Barbaritos, Freeze Frame, Samurai, etc), Banks' premium food costs may not be completely worth the price of admission.
We are very much looking forward to seeing what's to come for Banks' future, including hopefully some more varied options that aren't readily available (for slightly less dough) only a short walk away. There's plenty of additional space for more vendors, which, if selected properly, will push Banks from good to great.
Banks Food Hall is unlike anything Columbus Georgia has so far, and that's a great thing. The city is in desperate need of revitalization, and projects like this are exactly the key to remaining relevant in the shadow of the...
Read moreThis place is rather peaceful even when it is crowded. The atmosphere is just nice. College town type vibes (a few colleges in the area so makes sense). We had Jeremiah's (amazing) and the hot dog place.
The hot dog place was overly priced and honestly just meh. Took almost 40 minutes to get a salad, cheese fries, a plain hot dog and two burgers. The total was $46. Definitely not worth the money or time. Tasted like stadium food, not seasoned at all. The salad was literally shredded ice berg and crumbled bacon with chopped white onions (I don't do toms). They forgot the cheese on the fries and didn't give any dressing. Went back she only wanted to give me one dressing which are really small in size. The cheese I wish I would have just let it go. The fries were better without. The cheese tastes like the canned cheese from Walmart, so not great.
My husband on the other hand got a Poke Bowl and he enjoyed it. $17 for a small. We have never had one before so not sure if that is normal or on the high side. Fresh ingredients though so that is a bonus for sure.
They also have a bakery/coffee shop, a taco place and a bar. Looks like they are currently in the process of building a crab place.
Unfortunately, I didn't...
Read moreRemote workers with pets and vanlife enthusiasts- this is a great stop. Pets allowed on large wraparound covered porch with outside electric outlets and some rocking chairs! No pets allowed inside. Good wifi. Bathrooms are clean. Outlets at almost every table, tables are mostly large picnic bench style, some bar style seating, some regular tables and chairs with backs. Lots of food choices, a small bar in a more secluded corner. One outside electrical outlet at knee height by door, one or two open outlets up high where the tvs are mounted.
Large parking lot that you can see from many of the tables with windows and porch, in case you want to keep an eye on your car/rig.
Parking is easy early in the day, before 12pm that I know of. At night and on weekends parking gets tight.
Two main dining "rooms" but there's a food hall style kitchen in the middle that breaks up the largest room so there arent too many people in your immediate area.
Overlooks the Chattahoochee River and park with a splashed and public bathroom.
Wheelchair accessible ramps and tables as far as I can tell, just need someone to pull the picnic bench style seat...
