This occurred the afternoon of Saturday 7/31/21.
Would be a good spot if your looking for a regular, average joe type bar. Would have liked it more of the female bartender didn’t take my change from the bar and assume it was for her tip. When politely asked if she took my money from the bar she responded sarcastically, “ Oh yea, I stole it from you. You want it back ? I think it was like 6 bucks. I’ll make it up to you if you want “.
No thanks, I’ll take a pass on your low class offer.
Actually, it was more than $6 and why would you just take it ? We were still sitting at the bar and gave no indication we were leaving. You quickly changed our minds and lost business because of it.
Regardless of the dollar amount, don’t EVER take a customer’s money and assume it is for your own tip. The tip is based on quality of service and determined by ME, the customer - not you.
Maybe she is new to the business , but I am not. If she needs the money that bad, I wish her well. I will not mention her name, but she knows who she is. Smarten up and act professional even in a “ dive bar...
Read moreLast Sunday afternoon, my brother and I visited Kochevar's Saloon on Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado.
Kochevar's is an Old West-style saloon housed in the oldest-running establishment in Crested Butte.
It was raining outside so we decided to head inside to Kochevar's to wait out the downpour before heading to dinner.
The bar was filled with locals who were having a good time getting ready to watch the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup.
You can play billiards, darts and shuffleboard, and people were partaking of the various games and enjoying themselves.
Kochevar's has free Wifi (ask them at the bar for the passcode), which is especially helpful since cell service in Crested Butte is spotty at best.
The bar staff was friendly and the drinks were cheap.
If you are looking for a local-style dive bar experience, this...
Read moreWe have been to Crested Butte for YEARS. Usually love this place. This weekend our friend (who owns a house here) was getting married. We popped in after the rehearsal dinner and I bought myself and two other girls a shot. After we took the shot a couple tried to buy us one but the bartender REFUSED the couple to give a shot and embarrassed us in front of everyone by saying we were over served and drunk. We took one shot, paid our tab and had already tipped her before she said this. We were in disbelief since we were completely sober (Only had one shot). She continue to embassies us and lecture us about the altitude and then told us to leave. We love Crested Butte and had only had positive, respectful experiences before this. It ruined the whole night and as a paying customer it was the worst...
