Empty at 1230pm on a Friday was not a good sign. Took about 10 mins for a server to ask if we’d like a drink. We ordered a Sushi Plate and Sashimi Plate, with Karaage Chicken and Tempura Vegetables appetizers. Essentially the “classics”.
About 10 mins later the sushi plate arrived on its own. No appetizers. The server then made a comment that “he’s the only one speaking English and I’m sorry for the mix up”.
About 10 more mins later, the sashimi plate arrived. Still no appetizers. 5 mins later the appetizers arrived. I’m not even sure the karaage was chicken. Outside of being overcooked, the “meat” felt like it was pigs ears. These were not nice Japanese chicken nuggets. They are flat strips of maybe chicken. Little seasoning. Very tough to eat. We left most of the dish.
Tempura was good. Sushi and Sashimi was pretty basic for its $28 cost. Very overpriced.
Check came. I signed it and added a tip and then realised they’d added another plate of food! No sign of the server in this empty restaurant so went up to the bar to find him. I left the check and my card assuming they’d cancel the transaction and rerun it. Well they did, but then just charged the tip I’d left based on the larger previous amount. The server was now at 26% over 15%! Went back up to the bar and the server then thrust $10 of ones in my hand to apologise. I didn’t need that. I explained that $3 back would be enough.

We placed an online order and after waiting 40 minutes it wasn’t confirmed by the restaurant but our card was charged so we wanted our food. When we tried to call the restaurant it first says order online for faster service (which was a lie) and then when you press to talk to someone it went straight to voicemail so we had to go in person. When we got there they said they turned off the iPad because it was busy (even though there were only 3 tables that actually had people at them) and didn’t see the order…why do you have online ordering then if you aren’t keeping the iPad on to complete the orders but you are taking peoples money?? I know they are new, but that is basic business 101. We then waited over 20 minutes for our food and they didn’t even apologize for the wait or offered anything for our trouble. If they had at least tried to make up for our wait I would have given at least 3 maybe 4 stars but they did not care about our business at all. Beware to anyone who wants to place an online order. I usually think this place is ok, but I found a gnat in my food right as it came out (not after a minute or something of it being on the table, so it came with the bug).
When I sent it back, the owner or manager or whomever came out and tried to gaslight me. He said it "was a sesame seed". Right, pal.
Unluckily for him I had a picture, which I'm posting now. And when I corrected him and said "it clearly had wings", he folded immediately and spinelessly. Though instead of acknowledging the mistake and apologizing he evaded blame and said "if you think it was..."
I understand that mistakes happen. But a lack of integrity is unforgivable when it comes to the food you're serving to the public. It shows you have zero respect for the customer and you think it's ok to insult their intelligence....
